Alexander, Sr., died at her home on Fair Play Road at Seneca Monday morning after several years of declining health. She was, however, about her usual duties until stricken with a heart attack. Mrs. Alexander, daughter of the late James B. and Elizabeth Fisher Burgess, was born in Transylvania county, N. C., coming to Oconee county when a child. She had lived in Seneca for the past 30 years, and was a member of the Seneca Baptist church. Survivors, in addition to her husband, are four sons, Ralph, Greenwood, Fred and Billy, of Seneca, and Ben Alexander, Walhalla; six daughters, Mrs. Jess Fendley, Greenwood, Mrs. William Todd, Anderson, Mrs. Bryan Poore, Raleigh, N. C., Mrs. William C. Mitchell, Mrs. Garner Thorn, Seneca, and Mrs. Robert Shields, Fort Worth, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Sally Newman, Trion, N. C.; 13 grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted from Seneca Baptist church Wednesday with Dr. E. V. Babb and the Rev. M. J. Stansell officiating. Burial followed in Oconee Memorial Park. Pallbearers: L. T. McLane, Bill Dalton, Billy Hughes, Whit Miller, Ray Green, Clayton Land, Fred McCracken, Bob Stewart, Jute Price and Bowen Nimmons. Composing the escort of honor was T. J. Julian, Dr. H. H. Wells, Dr. J. H. Webb, Oscar Wigington, Sam Hunnicutt, Roy Adams, Lloyd Brown, Joe Moody, Lloyd Abbott, Dr. Leslie Stribling, John Field, Seaborn Moss, and Lee Hunt. Brown Funeral Home was in charge.
