(Gene) Abbott, former Seneca resident who succumbed Friday in Bexley, Ohio, were held Tuesday afternoon at Oconee Memorial Park. The Rev. Clyde Plexico, the Rev. R. W. McKinney, and the Rev. Paul Hayes officiated. Pall-bearers were C. E. Barker, E. E. Abbott, H. D. Biemann, Ralph Pike, J. B. Todd, and Joe Moody. Members of the Lewis Blanchett Post of the American Legion from Walhalla directed military rites. Mr. Abbott was a native of Oconee county, the son of the late John W. and Lou White Abbott. He had lived in Ohio for a number of years. A veteran of World War I and a member of the Methodist church at Columbus, Ohio, he was a retired railway conductor. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Grace Smith Abbott; one daugher, Carol Ann Abbott; one adopted daughter, Annabell Abbott, all of Bexley, Ohio; five sisters, Mrs. Toccoa A. Lee, Mrs. Addie A. Colley, Mrs. Charlie Davis, Mrs. Burt Gillespie all of Walhalla, Mrs. H. C. Whitten of Spartanburg; one brother, Glenn D. Abbott of Walhalla died July 18, 1949.
