TITLE: Ida Isabell Williams Hudson SOURCE: Keowee Courier SUBMITTED BY: Susan Brock-Booker FORMATTED BY: Kim Grissom, Jun 2003 *********************************************************************** HUDSON, Ida Isabell Williams (1875-1951) Keowee Courier January 3, 1952 Funeral services were held Sunday from the Little River Baptist church for Mrs. Ida Williams Hudson, 76, who succumbed Friday afternoon at the home of her son, Carl Hudson, in the Rocky Knoll section near Walhalla. Mrs. Hudson was well-known throughout this section of the county. The Rev. Ralph Hall and the Rev. J. M. Dean officiated at the final rites, and interment followed inthe church cemetery. Serving as pall-bearers were grandsons, Junior Doyle, Alton Edgar, Hudson Moody, Jack Moody, Bill Talley, and Joe Talley. Davenport Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Composing the escort of honor were deacons of the Rocky Knoll Baptist church and Fred Moss, Marion Blanchett, Leonard Morton, Raymond, Dan, and John Alexander, Lewis Long, Aden Stephens, and Floyd Nicols. Granddaughters served as flower-bearers. Mrs. Hudson was the widow of the Rev. J. L. Hudson, and a member of Rocky Knoll Baptist church. ( She was born and reared in Oconee county, the daughter of late Marshall C. Williams and Rhoda Dyar Williams. Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. C. A. Grant, Seneca; Mrs. W. B. Holdern, Mrs. J. R. Alexander, both of Cheohee; Mrs. Oliver Moody, Mrs. Louis Lay, both of Walhalla, Mrs. George Lee of Conway; six sons, Carl S., Walter C., and Clarence C., all of Walhalla; Oscar L., Atlanta, Ga., Eli Verner, Paul E., both of Conway; 50 gandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
