Sloan (Ca 1876-1948) Keowee Courier February 5, 1948 W. Sloan Lyle, 72, prominent Oconee county, farmer, died at his home in the Pleasant Hill community Sunday afternoon. Funeral services were held from Pleasant Hill Baptist church Tuesday afternoon. The Rev. M. J. Stansell and the Rev. Dewitt Snelgrove officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Lou Reid Lyle; seven daughters, Mrs. Clarence Miller, Walhalla, Mrs. Voridue Duvall, Westminster, Mrs. Edward Smith and Mrs. James Phillips both of Greenville, Mrs. Ralph Miller, Walhalla, and Misses Pauline and Thelma Lyle, both of Greenville; two sons, H. E. Lyle, and Jesse Lyle both of Westminster; 27 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Toxie Moore, Blacksburg; and one brother, James M. Lyle, Dawsonville, Ga.
