John A. Shead, 70, died at his home near West Union Wednesday at 12:30 o'clock. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nancy Haulbrooks Shead; six daughters, Mrs. Cora Quarles of Walhalla, Mrs. Hubert Royster of Royston, Ga., Mrs. Jesse Thomas of Mayorsville, N. C. , Mrs. T. C. Smith of West Union, Mrs. John dove and Mrs. Leonard Lawson, both of Martin, GA., five sons, Garnett Shead of Walhalla, George Shead of Seneca, Hubert Shead of Walhalla, Frank Shead of West Union, and John Shead of Bogart, GA.; 64 children (grandchildren?); one sister, Mrs. Mary Ann Mattison (Mathison) of Long Creek, and one brother, Miles Logan Shead of Madison, Ga. Funeral services were held Thursday at 3 p.m. at the Long Creek Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. C. W. Barnes. Internment was in the church cemetery.
