TITLE: Mary Alive Patterson SOURCE: Keowee Courier SUBMITTED BY: Debbie Kellogg FORMATTED BY: Kim Grissom, Jun 2003 *********************************************************************** PATTERSON, Mary Alive Mrs. Mary Alive Patterson, wife of Mr. John A Patterson, died at their home in Eastminster on Bibb Street August 25th from a lingering illness of dropsy and other complications. She was reared in Oconee, but spent a portion of her life in Anderson, where her husband was employed several years. She was born as Alice Cole October 7, 1872, the daughter of N.P. and Betty Cole, late residents of Cross Roads community and she was a granddaughter of the late Mrs. William Bearden, generally known as "Granny" Bearden, who lived to be 103 years old. Her survivors, in addition to her husband include three sisters, Mrs. Columbus Patterson, Mrs. Frances Grant, and Mrs. R.L. Patterson, all of Westminster, and a brother, J.H. Cole, of Anderson. As a devoted Christion and a good neighbor, a large number mourn the death of Mrs. Patterson and extend sympathy to the bereaved husband, sisters and brother. Her body was buried in the earle's Grove Baptist church cemetery on Friday August 27th the services being in charge of Rev. M.J. Stansell and Rev. Ernest Sorrells.
