John L. Cox (1856 to 1-113-1932) Keowee Courier January 13, 1932 John L. Cox Dies at Home Near Walhalla Monday Many friends will regret to learn of the death of John L. Cox, aged 76 years, which occured at his home near Walhalla late Monday evening. Mr. Cox had been in failing health for some time and his death was not unexpected. He was quite well known in Oconee, and was recognized as a good farmer and substantial citizen of his community. Friends will join with us in extending to the bereaved ones sincere sympathy in their sorrow. Surviving him are his wife and following children: Miss Eugenia Cox, Mrs. H. P. McCoy, Mrs. G. M. Barnett, Mrs. Henry Lee, W. L. Cox, H. M. Cox, Edward Cox, John M. Cox and Jesse Cox. Funeral services were held from the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock, conducted by the Revs. V. S. Brennan and R. Henry Blackwell. The interment was made in the cemetery of that church in the presence of a large number of friends of the deceased and his family.
