TITLE: Willis W. Abbott SOURCE: The Keowee Courier SUBMITTED BY: Susan Brock-Booker FORMATTED BY: Kim Grissom, Jun 2003 *********************************************************************** ABBOTT, Willis W. (1822-1912) Keowee Courier May 1912, Death of Rev. W. W. Abbott---- Union Protracted Services, Seneca, May 7---Special: The death of Rev. W. W. Abbott occurred at his home near Seneca on Sunday, the 5th instant. Mr. Abbott's death marks the passing of a very familiar land-mark, he having lived at his late home for a number of years, and having reached the ripe age of ninety-one years. His ministry was remarkable in that he probably baptized and married more people than any preacher in the county. His wife preceded him to the grave only a few years ago. The funeral services were held at Hopewell Baptist church on Monday afternoon, and were largely attended by sorrowing relatives and friends.
