Boyd died at his home on Crooked Creek near Newry on Monday the 15th instant at the advanced age of 84 years. He leaves his wife and one son Robert H. Boyd of Seneca who have the sympathy of many friends. By occupation, a farmer, yet he took interest in the welfare of his community, county and state. He served many years, first a captain and then a major in the militia. He also represented Pickens District in the General Assembly and his strong sense made him a valuable member. He was a member of the Baptist Church, a Master Mason. He was buried at New Hope Baptist Church.
