Cawthon FORMATTED BY: Kim Grissom, Jun 2003 *********************************************************************** PATTERSON, John Andrew Final services were conducted Saturday, July 13, from the Earle's Grove Baptist Church for John Andrew Patterson, 72, well-known Oconee county resident of the Earle's Grove community. He had been in declining health for the past several years, and died suddenly at his home Thursday afternoon. Officiating at rites were the Rev. Jack Stansell and the Rev. Claude Hightower, interment was in the church cemetery Pallbearers were Cleve Rice, E.J. Gibson, A.S. Ables, Will King, Leo King, and Walter Casey His nieces served as flower bearers. Mr. Patterson was a native of Anderson County, a son of the late Jack and Mary Jane Davis Patterson. He operated a grocery business for about 20 years in Anderson, and moved near Westminster a few years ago, where he again engaged in the grocery business. He was married three times, his first wife, Mrs. Lina Cole Patterson died 12 years ago. His second wife, Mrs. Alice Cole Patterson died in 1943. His last wife, Mrs. Annie Belle Graham Patterson survives him. He was a member of Earle's Grove Baptist Church. In addition to his widow, he is survived by one brother, R. L. Patterson, of Westminster. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Contributed by Mary L.
