Nichols Seneca May 30, Final rites for Robert Lee Nichols 76, lifelong resident of Oconee Co. who died in a Columbia hospital at 1:55 yesterday afternoon following two years of declining health and a serious illness of three days, will be held from Flat Shoals Baptist Church above Walhalla at 3:00 pm Sunday. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Grandson will serve as pallbearers: Erby Jones, Irwin Turner, L. B. Pearson, Howard Pearson, Ralph Nichols and Bill Nichols. Granddaughter served as flower girls. Mr. Nichols was a son of the late James and Mary Dean Nichols. His wife, Mrs. Maggie Herron Nichols died April 27, 1951. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Noah Jones Rt. 1, Seneca and Mrs. James E. Turner, Rt. 2, Westminster. One son, William G. Nichols, Rt. 1, Seneca. 34 grandchildren, 27 greatgrandchildren. Three sisters, Mrs. R.A. Nichols, Walhalla, Mrs. Dock Mathis, Mtn Rest and Mrs. Nettie Herron, Cateechee. One brother, J.Lewis Nichols, Walhalla. Ansel Funeral Home in charge.
