We regret to announce the death of Mr. Edmond Foster, prominent citizen of Oconee, which occurred at his home near Richland on Tuesday, August 27, after a long illness. Mr. Foster was in the 74th year of his age and was born and reared in Oconee County. He was married November 29, 1866 to Miss Mary Sue Brewer. They celebrated their golden wedding last December a year ago. His widow and the following children survive: J.W. Foster, Manchester, Ala.; E.N. Foster, Richland; J.S. Foster, Winona, Miss.; E.M. Foster of Greenville, Miss.; Mrs. H.P. McKey of Comuiquey, Cuba; and Miss Cornelia Foster to whom the sympathy of many friends is extended in their sad hour. Two sons, W.C. Foster and C.L. Foster, are dead. Mr. Foster was a consistent member of the Rock Springs Methodist Church and always manifested keen interest in religious affairs. He was a useful and true man and will be sadly missed. Mr. Foster was a gallant Confederate veteran. He was a member of Company D 22nd South Carolina Regiment. He was at Richmond at the time of the surrender. As a memento of the war, Mr. Foster brought back with him from the Virginia hills a sourwood walking stick, which he prized very highly. Friends and relatives of Mr. and Mrs. Foster and family are requested to attend his funeral and interment at Rock Springs M.E. Church Wednesday evening, August 28, at six o'clock.
