She was a native of Habersham county, GA., a daughter of the late Russell and Sarah Perry Beard. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Surviving are three sons, J. L. Cox of Walhalla, Leland Cox of Mauldin and Luther Cox of Westminster; five daughters, Mrs. Irene Carver, Mrs. Lucy Mae Capps and Mrs. Louise Burton of Westminster and Mrs. Inez White and Mrs. Lucille Lee of Walhalla; 22 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Friday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church by the Rev. C. L. Letson, the Rev. C. G. Wyatt, the Rev. Haskell Lee and the Rev. Robert Willis. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Russell Cox, Larry and Bobby Burton, R. H. Carver, Jr., Bill Rutledge and Frank Gibson. Davenport Funeral Home was in charge.
