The remains were accompanied by O.L. Johnson , the father of the deceased. Richard Johnson was 30 years of age and his death was due to "shell shock" received while on the battle front in France. An abcess on the brain resulted and an operation was performed at a hospital in Pueblo from which death resulted. The deceased was a brother of Mrs. Will Giles. The funeral was held on Wednesday from the Baptist church and the remains were laid to rest in the Clayton cemetery. "The Clayton News"- Jan 31,1920 Clayton, NM
