Williamson * John C. Williamson, 89, of Lewes, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, in the presence of his family, at home. Mr. Williamson served as an air intelligence officer in the southwest Pacific in World War II. He retired from the U.S. Marine Corps in 1973 at the rank of lieutenant colonel in the Marine Corps Reserve. He was the chief lobbyist in Washington, D.C. for the National Association of Realtors from 1952 to 1972. He practiced law in Washington and served as executive vice president of the Mortgage Insurance Companies of America. After his retirement, he lived in South Bethany, where he was active in town government, serving as a member of the town council, as mayor and as a member and chairman of the Board of Adjustment. He obtained a commercial captain's license from the U.S. Coast Guard at the age of 75 and captained his sport fishing boat, Sandy Carol, for many years. He moved to Lewes in 1996. He will be remembered by friends and family for his humor, generosity, compassion and love of life. He is survived by his wife, Bishop; his sons Van and Jeff; daughters-in-law Alexis and Mayumi; and granddaughter Ann Bishop. Services and burial were private.
