He was 35. Mr. Brown was born Dec. 26, 1967, in Dover, son of James Leon Brown Sr. and the late Mary Ada Bolden Brown. He attended school in the Ceasar Rodney School District in Camden. "J.R.," as he was affectionately known by all, was employed in a few capacities during his work history. The job that he appeared to enjoy the most and worked at until soon before illness demanded that he stop was as a highway maintenance engineer for the state of Delaware. He also worked as the need required, especially during the Thanksgiving and Christmas turkey seasons, for longtime family friends, Cliff, Betty and Danny Palmer at TA farms in Willow Grove. In addition to his father, he is survived by his devoted wife, Carol Brown; a son, Dana J. Johnson; a stepdaughter, Jennifer Johnson; his stepmother, Doris Brown, of Willow Grove; two sisters, Barry Ann Bolden Powell, of Seaford, and Jada Lynn Brown, of Dover; five stepbrothers, Darrell Caldwell and Donald Lock, of Florida, Charles Lock, of Maryland, Daine Lock, of North Carolina, and Russell Flowers, of Dover; two stepsisters, Shanora Caldwell, of Dover, and Tyonia Taylor, of Willow Grove; two adopted brothers, Robert Falden Jr., of Dover, and Charles Coleman, of Marydel; an adopted sister, Brenda Russell, of Dover; a sister-in-law, Lori Miller, of Dover; godparents Charles and Margaret Groce, of Camden; a niece, Jasmine Brown; two nephews, Darian T. Powell Sr. and Joshua Brown; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and other relatives and special friends. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today in Bennie Smith Funeral Home in Dover. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery in Marydel, Md. --------------------------------------------------------------- * Clarence Leon Davidson, 85 MILFORD - Clarence Leon Davidson, of Milford, died Thursday, May 1, 2003, in his home. He was 85. Mr. Davidson was born in Lewes, son of the late Clarence L. and Emma Jane (Lofland) Davidson. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Davidson was a painter in the maintenance department of Milford Memorial Hospital for 17 years, retiring in 1980. He enjoyed gardening and being outdoors. Mr. Davidson was a member of the Milford Church of God. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lillian H. Davidson; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie N. and Ethel Davidson, of Milford; two grandchildren, Michael Davidson, of Milford, and Kelly Maranda and her husband, Alfredo, of McAllen, Texas; a great-grandson, Alfredo Maranda, of McAllen; and several nieces and cousins. She was 63. Mrs. Morgan was born on Oct. 8, 1939, in Concord, N.C., daughter of the late Clarence and Dora (Barbee) Fisher. She worked for Dover Downs Slots as a hostess and cashier. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She found great joy in the time spent with her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Sue Davis. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Russell E. Morgan Sr.; five sons and four daughters-in-law, Jeff and Jan Hunsucker, of Hartly, Russell E. Box 125, Millsboro, DE 19966, to defray funeral expenses. --------------------------------------------------------------- * Paul Coulbourne Trice, 82 FEDERALSBURG, Md. - Paul Coulbourne Trice, of Federalsburg, died Wednesday, April 30, 2003, in the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore. He was 82. Mr. Trice was born Dec. 22, 1920, in Hurlock, son of the late Lillie Mae Coulbourne and Milton Guy Trice. He attended Hurlock Elementary and graduated from Hurlock High School Class of 1938, the University of Maryland at College Park, Strayer Business School, and Johns Hopkins. Before becoming an auto dealer, he was a engineer at Bethlehem Steel in Baltimore. He invented the sprinkling system for battleships which is in use today. He was an automobile dealer for 34 years in Seaford, Del., and Federalsburg, representing General Motors - Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, and Cadillac. He was the founder of the first Soap Box Derby in Federalsburg. He, along with a faithful employee, Richard Willoughby, helped to put many of the Soap Box Cars together with a great deal of pride. Mr. Trice was a past president of the Federalsburg Lions Club. He was a member for more than 50 years of the Nanticoke Masonic Lodge 172. He was a 50- year member of the Scottish Rite of Salisbury and Baltimore, Boumi Temple Shrine Club. He was an ambassador of Boumi Temple and a member of the Eastern Shore Shrine Club. He was amember for more than 50 years of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon Evergreen Forest 49; amember since 1975 of the American Association of Retired Persons of both Caroline County 915 and Talbot County 1601; nn associate member of the Federalsburg VFW Post 5246; a life member of University of Maryland Alumni Association College Park; a member of the Academy of Arts in Easton, the Wicomico Council of Arts in Salisbury, and the Tidewater Performing Arts; a past board member of Chevrolet, Regional; a member and host of the Federalsburg Senior Center for 26 years; and a member of the Federalsburg Historical Society. He received the "Germ" Award as Maryland's Outstanding Volunteer and is in the Maryland Senior Citizens Hall Of Fame. He was a lifetime member of the Golden Age Passport and a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity; a charter member of the Caroline County Country Club, and a member of the AAA Mid-Atlantic. He received many awards and citations from other federal, state and local governmental agencies. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Otis M. Trice and Norman L. Trice. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, the former Jeanne Hallowell, whom he married, March 25, 1944; a daughter, Paulette Trice Alexandridis of Wilmington, Del.; a sister, Evelyn V. Trice, of Hurlock; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in the Williamson Funeral Home, 311 South Main St., Federalsburg, where friends may call one hour earlier. A Masonic Memorial Service will be conducted by members of Nanticoke Lodge 172, followed by religious services officiated by the Rev. David Heistand, the Rev. Box 99, Federalsburg, MD 21632. --------------------------------------------------------------- * Dr. Donald Eugene Vornholt, 80 GREENWOOD, Ind. - Dr. Donald Eugene Vornholt, of Greenwood, died Wednesday, April 30, 2003, in his home. He was 80. Dr. Vornholt was born on July 23, 1922, in Jackson County, son of the late Henry and Minnie (Quade) Vornholt. He received his Bachelor of Science from Butler University in 1950. He completed his master's degree from Indiana State University in 1967. He obtained his doctorate degree from Rutgers University in 1979. Dr. Vornholt was World War II Navy veteran. He was the vocational director at Wood High School in Indianapolis for 23 years, the executive officer on the Indiana State Advisory Council on Vocational Education, and was assistant professor at Delaware State College for 16 years, retiring in 1991. He had been an educator all his life. Dr. Vornholt was a longtime member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Indianapolis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert S. Vornholt. He is survived by his wife, whom he married on April 15, 1950, Anna (Giovanoni) Vornholt; his five children, Thomas E. Vornholt, James R. Vornholt, Daniel J. Vornholt, Gerald W. Vornholt and Peggy J. Stevens; a sister, Miriam Hittie; 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson. Friends may call from 4 to 8 tonight in the G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home in Greenwood, Ind. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Indianapolis.
