He was 68. Mr. Conoway was born in Georgetown, son of the late Ollie and Elsie (Shockley) Conoway. He had been a truck driver for the poultry industry for more than 30 years. Mr. Conoway attended Christ Evangelist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Burks Conoway, in 1997 and a daughter, Patricia Ann Conoway. He is survived by three daughters, Debra Dale Brian of Georgetown, Elizabeth Tice of Woodside and Kim Wladkowski of Millsboro; a sister, Carol Lingo of Rehoboth Beach; a brother, Russell Conoway of Georgetown; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Parsell Funeral Homes '&;' Crematorium, Dodd-Carey Chapel, 307 N. Bedford St., Georgetown, where friends may call one hour earlier. Burial will be in Asbury Methodist Cemetery, near Georgetown. --------------------------------------------------------------- * Don Romero Martinez Jr., newborn BRIDGEVILLE - Don Romero Martinez Jr. was born and died Saturday, March 8, 2003, at Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. He was a newborn. He is survived by a loving mother, Jessica Gibbs of Bridgeville; a loving father, Don Romero Martinez Sr. of Ellendale; his paternal grandmother, Carolyn Davis of Ellendale; his maternal grandparents, Thomas and Gail Gibbs of Bridgeville; four uncles; seven aunts; and a host of other relatives. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Milford. Burial will be in Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church, Ellendale. --------------------------------------------------------------- * Edward 'Murph' Murphy (Gemberling), 46 WYOMING - Edward "Murph" Murphy (Gemberling) of Wyoming died Friday, March 14, 2003, in Richmond, Va., while returning from an assignment for The (Wilmington) News Journal. He was 46. Mr. Murphy was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. He had lived in the Dover area since 1973, and graduated from Caesar Rodney High School, Camden, in 1974. He also attended Delaware State College for several years before moving to Illinois for a brief period. In 1980, he joined The News Journal, where he eventually served as a sportswriter. Mr. Murphy loved sports, and during his personal time, he was an avid supporter of the New York Mets, the Jets and the Rangers. He was preceded in death by his father, William J. Gemberling, in 2000. He is survived by his loving mother, Josephine Gemberling of Dover; a sister, Patricia Murphy Boesenberg of Dover; a brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Kimberly Gemberling of Rocky Mount, N.C.; his faithful black lab, Jazz; three nieces; two nephews; two great-nephews; and several aunts, uncles and numerous cousins. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Funeral Home of Michael J. Ambruso, 1175 S. State St., Dover. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Cross Church, South State Street, Dover. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover. Murphy Sports Scholarship Memorial Fund, c/o The News Journal, Wilmington. --------------------------------------------------------------- * John Paul Hannon, 63 LONG NECK - John Paul Hannon of Long Neck, formerly of Philadelphia, died Saturday, March 15, 2003, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. He was 63. Mr. Hannon was born in Scranton, Pa., son of the late Frank and Alice Lawless Hannon. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He had worked for the Atomic Fuel Oil Co. and SPD Technologies, both in Philadelphia, retiring in 1991 after 30 years of service. Mr. Hannon was a member of Oak Orchard-Riverdale American Legion Post 28, Mid-Sussex Rescue Squad Station 91 and Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 2. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Patricia Morgan Hannon; a daughter, Deborah Smith of Orlando, Fla.; two stepsons, Ralph Papandrea of Levittown, Pa., and Richard Papandrea of Abington, Pa.; two stepdaughters, Patricia Klein of Ambler, Pa., and Jacquelyn Schools of Horsham, Pa.; a sister, Katherine DeBellis of West Warwick, R.I.; and 15 grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call one hour earlier. Burial will be private. Wilson, 82 SEAFORD - Frank L. Wilson of Seaford died Saturday, March 15, 2003, at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. He was 82. Mr. Wilson was an U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He retired from the DuPont Co., Seaford, in 1982 after 43 years. Mr. Wilson was a member of American Legion Post 6, Seaford. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Alice Riddleberger Wilson; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald A. and Pamela A. Wilson, and Douglas R. and Charlotte A Wilson, all of Seaford; two daughters, Donna W. Ratliff of Glen Mills, Pa., and Gloria J. Burton of Seaford; and three grandchildren, Sara Ashley Hardesty of Seaford, and Jeffrey B. Ratliff and Mark S. Ratliff, both of Glen Mills.
