She was 75. Mrs. Gerardi was born July 28, 1927, in Harrington, daughter of the late Harlan and Kathryn Kenton Haymond. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed her family and children and loved cooking and playing cards. Mrs. Gerardi was a member of St. Bernadette's Catholic Church in Harrington. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Tony Gerardi, in 1995; four brothers, Clayton Haymond, Robert Haymond, Eugene Haymond and Harlan Haymond Jr.; and a sister, Kathleen Willey. She is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, Anthony and Angel Gerardi and James and Kimberley Gerardi, all of Harrington; four daughters and four sons-in-law, Joyce and Duane Anthony, Annie and Steve Willey and Melinda and Glenn Stevens, all of Harrington, and Charlotte and Donald Torbert of Greenwood; a sister, Pauline Nickerson of Greenwood; a brother, William Haymond of Greenwood; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon today in the Fleischauer Funeral Home, West Market Street, Greenwood. Mass of Christian burial will be 1 p.m. today in St. Bernadette's Catholic Church, 109 Dixon St., Harrington. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington. Hollingsworth, 89 MILLSBORO - Jeannette C. Hollingsworth of Millsboro died Tuesday, June 3, 2003, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. She was 89. Mrs. Hollingsworth was born in Dagsboro. She was a homemaker. She is survived by her husband James; a daughter, Yvonne Timmons of New Castle; two grandsons; six granddaughters; 12 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday in the Chapel of Melson Funeral Services on Thatcher Street, Frankford. Burial will be in Dagsboro Redmens Memorial Cemetery. --------------------------------------------------------------- * Anna DeShane Hopkins, 90 GALENA, Md. - Anna DeShane Hopkins of Galena died Tuesday, June 3, 2003, in her home. She was 90. Mrs. Hopkins was born Feb. 15, 1913 in Blacks Station, near Galena, daughter of the late Samuel T. and Elizabeth Jones DeShane. She had worked as a telephone operator, U.S. Census taker and in 1943 purchased the Flying Feather Farm, with her husband. Mrs. Hopkins was a member of the Kennedyville United Methodist Church, where she was president of the WSCS for 25 years. A life member of the Galena Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, a volunteer for 39 years with the Salvation Army and the Ladies of Galena Lions Club. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, William Hopkins in 1990; her sister, Amy Lee Miller; and a granddaughter, Nan D. Councell. She is survived by a daughter and a son-in-law, Ann and Jack Dwyer of Galena; two grandsons, John Wayne Dwyer and his wife Joyce and Richard Dwyer, all of Galena; a granddaughter, April Elburn of Galena; a great-grandson, Colby Elburn of Galena; a grandson-in-law, Rickye Councell, and his wife, Kay, all of Galena; and a step-great-granddaughter, Patricia Hilderbrand of Annapolis. Church or the Galena Volunteer Fire Co., c/o the funeral home. --------------------------------------------------------------- * Robert Harry 'Kuch' Kucher, 50 SMYRNA - Robert Harry "Kuch" Kucher of Smyrna died Monday, June 2, 2003, in his home. He was 50. Mr. Kucher was born Jan. 30, 1953, in Philadelphia, son of the late Evelyn and Harry Kucher. He lived in Maple Shade, N.J., for many years. He was a 1971 graduate of Merchantville (N.J.) High School, where he participated in track and field events. In addition, he was a graduate of the University of Delaware with a B.A. in biology, and a graduate of Temple University with a pharmacy degree. Mr. Kucher was employed as a pharmacist for 23 years, having served at Kent General Hospital in Dover, Milford Memorial Hospital and at the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill in Smyrna since 1996. He was affectionately known as "Kuch" by his friends and was well-liked by his co-workers and staff at DHCI. In his spare time, he enjoyed collecting antique medicine bottles and going antiquing. He also enjoyed woodworking. In 1987, Mr. Kucher served as president of the Delaware State Hospital Society of Pharmacists. In addition, he was an active member of Patchwork Playhouse in Dover, with a special interest in creating stage sets, and an active member of the Maple Shade Volunteer Fire Co. for eight years. He is survived by his wife, Janet L. Kucher; two stepchildren, Lloyd C. Massey and Mary J. Massey, both of Smyrna; a sister and brother-in-law, Lynn and Dr. Walter Blenderman of North Plainfield, N.J.; and two nieces, Laura and Amelia Blenderman, both of North Plainfield. Moneymaker, 94 SEAFORD - Louise E. Moneymaker of Seaford died Tuesday, June 3, 2003, in the Methodist Manor House, Seaford. She was 94. Mrs. Moneymaker was born June 24, 1908, in Shenandoah, Va., daughter of the late Lena and Herbert Stanley. She graduated from high school in Shenandoah. In 1926, she married Jesse Moneymaker from Mount Solon, Va., who came to Shenandoah to manage and pitch for the Norfolk '&;' Western Railroad baseball team. During the Depression, her husband became a welder and worked on construction projects for the DuPont Co. in Virginia, New Jersey and, finally, in Seaford, where the family moved in 1939. She had been a very loving and dedicated wife to her husband. She will long be remembered as a fine Christian lady who was a companion and volunteer in providing caring assistance for her friends and neighbors. Mrs. Moneymaker was a longtime member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Seaford, a volunteer at the Methodist Manor House for 17 years and a member of Sussex Chapter No. 7, Order of the Eastern Star. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Jesse Moneymaker, in 1971; and her three brothers, Albert Stanley, Herbert Stanley and Richard Stanley. She is survived by three children, Jessie Morgan, James Moneymaker and Robert Moneymaker, all of Sussex County; five grandchildren; and 11 great- grandchildren. Arrangements by Rogers Funeral Home, Milford. --------------------------------------------------------------- * Shelda Lynn 'Shell' Scarborough, 45 HARRINGTON - Shelda Lynn "Shell" Scarborough of Harrington departed this life, after a long illness, Monday, June 2, 2003, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 45. Mrs. Scarborough was born Feb. 25, 1958, in Milford Memorial Hospital She was a graduate of Lake Forest High School, Felton, and The Dover Beauty Academy, and attended Delaware State College (now University) from 1977 to 1979. Mrs. Scarborough was employed by the Harrington Day Care Center as a teacher's aide before her illness. In her spare time, she enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, shopping and spending time with her nieces. Mrs. Scarborough was a member of Bibleway Church of Deliverance, where she served as a trustee and on the Women's Auxiliary Committee. She was a dedicated and faithful member who volunteered to help in any capacity she could. She is survived by her mother, Anna M. Curry of Harrington; a daughter, Brandice Scarborough of Harrington; her ex-husband, Victor Scarborough of Wilmington; a brother, Darryl Curry of Harrington; a sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Richard Brown of Magnolia; an uncle and aunt, Norman and Barbara Travis of Milton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Paul A.M.E. Church, Mispillion Street, Harrington, where friends may call two hours earlier. Burial will be in Williamsville Cemetery. She was 78. Mrs. Starkey was born Oct. 1, 1924, daughter of Elizabeth Lockwood Hollett of Millington, Md., and the late Charles L. Hollett. She was a secretary in the insurance department for the University of Delaware, retiring in 1986. Mrs. Starkey was a member of the Tabernacle Church and the Modern Maturity Center, Dover. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Elwood Brice Starkey, in 2001; a son-in-law, Charles Wallace; and a brother, Charles "Buck" Hollett. In addition to her mother, she is survived by a daughter, Elaine Wallace; two grandsons and a granddaughter-in-law, J.B. Wallace, along with J.B.'s companion, Louise Melvin, both of Townsend, and Merritt and Kristine Wallace of Milford; three great-grandchildren, Brittni, Bradley and Christopher, all of Milford; a brother, Merritt Hollett of Newark; and two sisters, Ethel Kelley and Sarah Starkey, both of Massey, Md.
