He was 85. Mr. Benton was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on the USS Sumter. He retired from the DuPont Co., Seaford, after 40 years of service. Mr. Benton was a Mason and a member of Centenary Church. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Arvaline Whaley Benton; a son, Bruce Benton of Lewes; a daughter, Sandi Townsend of Seaford; a grandson, Bryan Townsend; two granddaughters, Shannon Benton and Erin Benton; and a brother, George Benton of Nashville, Tenn. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery South Chapel, near Millsboro. Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements by Cranston Funeral Home, Seaford. --------------------------------------------------------------- * John Wilmur Bordley, 67 DOVER - John Wilmur Bordley of Dover died Wednesday, June 11, 2003, in his home. He was 67. Mr. Bordley was born June 12, 1935, in Philadelphia, son of the late John London and Dorothy Bordley. He received his education in the Philadelphia school system. Mr. Bordley honored his country by serving in the U.S. Navy for four years and in the U.S. Air Force for 16 years, achieving the rank of master sergeant. He retired in 1974 from the Air Force at McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey. He moved to Dover in 1974 and was employed for a number of years at General Foods (now Kraft Foods). He was a hard-working man, very conscientious and dependable. He was an intelligent, articulate man who loved his family. He prided himself on being able to cook. He always kept an orderly house and an immaculate appearance. Those who knew him remember him for his love of hats, his passion for cooking, his dry sense of humor and his obsession with the California Raisin figurines. Mr. Bordley, in later years, joined Calvary Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by twin sisters, Dorothy Bordley and Doris Bordley; and a brother, Paul Bordley. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan David Bordley and Leia Bordley; a grandson, Ro-man Bordley; a sister, Barbara Murphy; a brother and sister-in-law, James and Eleanor Bordley; his ex-wife and a loving and devoted friend for many years, Nancy Bordley; an uncle, Donald Williams; three aunts, Elizabeth Gowens, Thelma Durant and Barnita Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Brodeur of Camden-Wyoming died Saturday, June 14, 2003, at Bay-health-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 17. Danielle was born Nov. 16, 1985, in Dover, daughter of Jeffrey and Ronda (Ratzlaff) Brodeur. She was a student at Delaware Technical School, working toward her GED and was very proud of that. Danielle was free-spirited, had many interests and enjoyed "hanging" with her friends. She loved her family and her two dogs, Pete and Daisey. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Richard Sr. and Eleanor Brodeur; a stepgrandfather, Nicholas DiSalvo Sr.; and an uncle, Steven Brodeur. She is survived by her father and stepmother, Jeffrey S. and Victoria Brodeur of Dublin, Va.; her mother and stepfather, Ronda L. Cornelius, 57 STILL POND, Md. - Nancy E. Cornelius of Still Pond died Sunday, June 15, 2003, in her home. She was 57. Ms. Cornelius was born July 3, 1945, in Lynch, daughter of Annabelle Kendall Nickerson of Millington and the late William Nowland Nickerson. She was a lifetime resident of Kent County where, for 26 years, she operated a home-cleaning service. Ms. Cornelius was a devoted grandmother, and enjoyed collecting crackled glass, bird-watching and her pets. In addition to her mother, she is survived by two daughters and a son-in- law, Kathy Metcalf of Still Pond, along with Ms. Metcalf's fiance, Rick Elliott of Fairlee, and Tyra Darling and Alton Darling Jr. of Barclay; two brothers, William "Nick" Nickerson of Marydel and Robert Nickerson of Worton; two sisters, Janet Davis of Rileyville, Va., and Margaret Ann Bennett of Chestertown; and four grandchildren, Drew Metcalf of Still Pond and Allyson Darling, Trevor Darling and Abigail Darling, all of Barclay. "Mike" DeNigris of Dover died Sunday, June 15, 2003, at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 49. Mr. DeNigris was born June 18, 1953, in the Brooklyn, N.Y., area, son of Joseph and Anna DeNigris of Dover. He graduated from St. John's University, New York, with a pharmacy degree. Mr. DeNigris worked for Independent Pharmacies, New York, until moving to the Dover area. After mov-ing to Dover, he worked at Acme and Edgehill pharmacies before working as a pharmacist for the Dela-ware Home and Hospital for the Chronically Ill, Smyrna, for the past five years. He was an avid New York Yankees fan. He loved to barbecue, and was a devoted father, husband and stepfather. He genuinely cared for everyone. He enjoyed his children and all their events. Mr. DeNigris volunteered as a board member at the Stockley Center as an advocate for human rights and as a consultant. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of seven years, Gloria of Dover; two sons, Michael DeNigris and Christopher DeNigris, both of the family home; three stepchildren, Holly Castell and Suzanne Castell, both of Atlanta, and Christopher Castell of the family home; and a grandchild, Fabian Perry. Emge of Lewes died of complications of cancer Sunday, June 15, 2003, at Harbor Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Lewes. She was 79. Mrs. Emge was born in Baltimore, daughter of the late James Shaffer and Eleanor (Alimony) Shaffer. She had been employed by a moving company as a clerical employee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Gerald B. Emge Jr., in February 2002. She is survived by her husband, Gerald V. Emge; a daughter, Donna L. Merrill of Plano, Texas; a son, Kirk J. Emge of Falls Church, Va.; and four grandchildren. Box 163, Salisbury, MD 21803-0163. --------------------------------------------------------------- * Adolph Lewis Friday Jr., 74 DOVER - Adolph Lewis Friday Jr. of Dover died Sunday, June 15, 2003, in his home, surrounded by family. He was 74. Mr. Friday was born in Wilburton, Pa., son of the late Adolph and Lena (Fetterman) Friday. He began working as a coal miner in central Pennsylvania. At age 17, Mr. Friday joined the U.S. Army Air Corps and eventually joined its successor, the U.S. Air Force. He retired as a master sergeant in 1971 after serving his country for 20 years. He always enjoyed working and continued to do so as a tractor operator at Dover Air Force Base until last year. He particularly enjoyed being "Opa" to his many grandchildren and will always be remembered for his love and devotion to his family, but mostly for his generous, giving spirit. His favorite hobbies included fishing and gardening. Like his father before him, he enjoyed sharing his harvest with family, neighbors and friends. Mr. Friday was a faithful member of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, Dover, for 35 years. He served on the Church Council and in the Men's Group, and was a past chairman of the Property Committee and a mem-ber of the local branch of Aid Association for Lutherans. He was Past Master of Union Lodge 7 of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, Dover, and a proud member for many years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Friday and Alfred Friday, both of whom lived in Wilburton. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Phyllis (Boyer) Friday; five children and their spouses, Adolph Lewis Friday III and Natalie M. She was 83. Mrs. Jenkins was born June 27, 1919, in Camden, daughter of the late Jessie and Thomas Hairgrove. She graduated from Caesar Rodney High School in 1938. She graduated from Milford Memorial Nursing School in 1942 where she received her degree in registered nursing. She enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942 to care for our servicemen in World War II. During that time, she went ashore at Omaha Beach in Normandy. She also was stationed near Reims, France, and in Marseille, France. After World War II, she returned to Delaware and married Joe C. Jenkins. Together, they started and ran Jenkins Cropdusting and Jenkins Airport. Mrs. Jenkins enjoyed animals and nature, and was never without several beloved animal companions. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Joe Jenkins; a son, Joe S. Jenkins; a daughter, Jan D. Jen-kins; and a son-in-law, Brian A. Jesse, all of Dover. "Kitty" Muir of Lewes died Sunday, June 15, 2003, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. Mrs. Muir was born and raised in West Grove, Pa., daughter of the late Robert and Isabel Jacob. She made Lewes her home for the past 60 years. She was married to the late John W. Rollins and later to Barnard C. Muir, who predeceased her in 1980. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, James E. Rollins, in 1972. She is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, John W. Jr. and Diana Rollins of Stuart, Fla., and Chadds Ford, Pa., and Patrick E. and Faye Rollins of Houston, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Cather-ine Ann and Dan Searby of Atherton, Calif.; a sister, Elizabeth I. Jackson of Santa Rosa, Calif.; six grand-children, John W.
