D'Armi, 73 SEAFORD - Frank A. D'Armi of Seaford died of natural causes Saturday, June 14, 2003, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. He was 73. Mr. D'Army was a U.S. Navy veteran, He retired from Red and White Mills in Delmar. He was an avid sportsman and coached Little League baseball, and played softball and baseball. He also loved to play the trumpet. Mr. D'Armi was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Seaford, and of the Seaford Moose Lodge. He was preceded in death by two sons, Kirk D'Armi in 1987 and Kevin D'Armi in 1997. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marion J. D'Armi; two sons, Keith D'Armi of Delmar, Md., and Kelly D'Armi of Laurel; a daughter, Karen A. D'Armi-Hunt of Seaford; a sister, Yolanda Klimas of Middletown, Conn.; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services will be noon Tuesday in Cranston Funeral Home, 300 Shipley St., Seaford, where friends may call one and one-half hours earlier. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Seaford. --------------------------------------------------------------- * Julian 'Herman' Dixon Sr., 66 DELAWARE CITY - Julian "Herman" Dixon Sr. of Delaware City died Friday, June 13, 2003, in Christiana Hospital of Christiana Care, Newark. He was 66. Mr. Dixon was born in Elkton, Md. He served in the U.S. Army in the 101st Airborne Division. Mr. Dixon had been a heavy-equipment operator for the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 25 for 45 years. He also had worked in security at the Motiva Refinery for the past year. Mr. Dixon was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Maryland. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roland Dixon and Samuel Dixon. He is survived by his wife, Ardell M. (Finnegan) Dixon; four children, the husband of one and the fiance of one, Cindy Foster of North East, Md., Patty and Mike Stribula of Allentown, Pa., Vicky Dixon and fiance Kevin, both of Greensboro, Md., and Julian H. "Jay" Dixon Jr. of Goldsboro, Md.; three stepchildren and the respective spouses of two, Sandra and Eddie Lindsay, and James Woodward Jr. and Stephanie Woodward, all of Bear, and Richard Klonowski III of Delaware City; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, George and Mieko Dixon of Camden and Walter and Nora Lee Dixon of Bristol, N.H.; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was 69. Mrs. Ferguson was born March 6, 1934, in Greenwood. She was retired, having worked for Playtex for 40 years. Mrs. Ferguson loved NASCAR, fishing, crabbing and dancing. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne Adams and Tommy Smith. She is survived by a son, Robert H. Ferguson of Bridgeville, two daughters, Debra Ann Crowe of Lincoln and Sandra Lee Conrad of Milford; nine brothers, Carrol Smith and Denny Smith, both of Seaford, Ronald Smith of Lincoln, Carl Smith and Charles Smith, both of Florida, Bobby Smith, Larry Smith and Warren Hall Smith, all of Harrington, and Elwood Smith of Redden; two sisters, Shirley Tucker of Milford and Joyce Bawel of Greenwood; 14 grandchildren; and six great- grandchildren. Lightcap of Clayton died of complications of cancer Saturday, June 14, 2003, in Christiana Hospital of Christiana Care, Newark. He was 50. Mr. Lightcap was born in Wilmington, son of the late John and Margaret Taylor Lightcap. He served in the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1972 and was stationed in Germany. He was employed as a production worker by VPI-Mirrex Corp., Delaware City, for 15 years. Mr. Lightcap enjoyed NASCAR racing, especially Dale Earnhardt. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and motorcycle riding. He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, David and Marsha Cahall of Dover and Glenn "Little Glenn" Lightcap II of Cheswold; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Robert and Bonnie Lightcap of Clayton and John and Beth Lightcap of Smyrna; and two grandchildren, Felicia Cahall and David Cahall Jr., both of Dover. Florence McCarty of Millsboro died Thursday, June 12, 2003, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. She was 79. Mrs. McCarty was born in Wilmington, daughter of the late James and Emma Harkins. She was a member of the Millsboro Art League. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William A. McCarty, in 1977; and a son, Keith McCarty, in 2001. She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Jo Ann and Jeff Baker, Dawn Reamer and Kim and Henry Stawicki; five grandchildren and the respective spouses of four, Kristin and Steve Kempczynski, Jimi and Joanne Baker, Christopher and Lori Reamer, Brian and Meggan Reamer and Kyle Stawicki; and five great-grandchildren, T.J. Spencer of Dover died Friday, June 13, 2003, in Bayhealth- Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 44. Mr. Spencer was born in Baltimore, son of Maryjean Lynch Spencer of Murrysville, Pa., and the late A. Clifton Spencer. He was a graduate of Bowie (Md.) State College and received his master's degree in psychology from West Virginia Wesleyan. Mr. Spencer was director of development for community services with the Delaware Division of Developmental Disabilities. He was a family-oriented person, and enjoyed fishing, camping and most sports. Mr. Spencer had been a member of the BPO Elks of Dover and The Dover Men of Malvern, and an active member of Holy Cross Church of Dover. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 20 years, Katherine Maroney Spencer of Dover; two daughters, Sara Spencer and Jamie Spencer, both of Dover; a son, Bobby Spencer of Dover; maternal grandmother, Anne Lynch of Murrysville; and a sister, Beth Knotts of New Creek, W.Va. Boyer Memorial Fund (Disabilities), 14 Drew Court, Dover, DE 19901. --------------------------------------------------------------- * Margaret Rowley Westfall, 96 ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - Margaret Rowley Westfall of Elizabethtown, formerly of Drexel Hill, Newtown Square and Milford, Del., died of natural causes Wednesday, June 11, 2003, in the Masonic Home, Elizabethtown. She was 96. Mrs. Westfall was born July 15, 1906, in Philadelphia, daughter of the late Arthur C. and Josephine Jackson Rowley. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Westfall was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in West Philadelphia, and was a longtime member of Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 274, Springfield, Delaware County, and more recently was active with the Kent Chapter 11 in Milford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James F. Westfall, in 1967. She is survived by three nieces, one of whom she resided with while in Milford, Jill Acquaviva. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave., Milford. Burial will be private.
