Boyce, 88 LAUREL - Olan D. Boyce of Laurel died Monday, June 9, 2003, at the Seaford Center of Genesis Elder-Care. He was 88. Mr. Boyce was born in Seaford, son of the late Emory M. and Laura Wootten Boyce. He was a longtime farmer who planted mostly corn and beans. He also drove a truck for Peninsula Oil Co., Seaford, for 33 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, LaVal M. Boyce Sr.; and a grandson, Phillip Boyce. He is survived by his wife of more then 64 years, Mary Moore Boyce, a son and daughter-in-law, Eddie W. Sr. and Barbara Boyce of Laurel; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara M. and Elwood W. Baker of Laurel; five grandchildren, Kathy May Harrison, Eddie W. "Buddy" Boyce Jr., Diane E. Patchett, Judy E. Evans and Irene F. Baker; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, brothers- in-law and sisters-in-law. Crawford of Ocean View died Monday, June 9, 2003, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. She was 85. Mrs. Crawford was an operator and assignment clerk for Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Co., Hyat-tsville, Md., retiring in 1965 after 22 years of service. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, William E. Crawford; two daughters, Virginia Johnston of Ocean View and Beverly Pepper of Dagsboro; three grandchildren, Stephen, Christine and Amy; and four great-grandchildren. Gray of Laurel died Sunday, June 8, 2003, from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident. He was 45. Mr. Gray was an heating-ventilation/air conditioning technician for Quality Mechanical, Seaford. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, Laurel, and the Harley Davidson Motorcycle Club. He is survived by his wife, Beverly June Gray; three daughters, Lindsey Marie Gray and Haley June Gray, both at home, and Kateland Marie Hearn of California; and several aunts and uncles, Ellen and Leroy West of Millsboro and Jerry Gray, Marjorie Schneider and Carol Fisher, all of northern Virginia. She was 79. Mrs. Holston was born in Delmar, daughter of the late Andrew and Julia Hearn Moore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Holston, in 1982; and two sons, Billy and George Holston. She is survived by five sons, Jerry L. Holston of Laurel, James H. Holston and Keith A. Holston, both of Georgetown, Vic L. Arrangements by Watson Funeral Home, Millsboro. --------------------------------------------------------------- * Malakai 'Kai' Zyan Jones, 1 LEWES - Malakai "Kai" Zyan Jones of Lewes departed his young life Friday, June 6, 2003, at A.I. du Pont Hospital for Children, Wilmington. He was 1. Kai was born Dec. 31, 2001, son of Arthur D. Jones III and Shelly Streett Jones. He attended the Eagles Nest Daycare Center, Milton. From 2 weeks old, he spent every Sunday morning in church with his family, sometimes sitting on the front row between the elders or the second pew with the Sunday school teachers. That was his place until his mother came down from singing on the Praise and Worship Team. Kai especially loved the Music Department in the church. From time to time, you could see him raise and clap his hands, wiggle his feet and try to sing the songs. Kai's favorite toy was a microphone. In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Austin and Caleb Jones; his grandparents, Ar-thur and Margaret Jones and Kathy M. and Melvyn T. Streett; two great-grandmothers, Margaret P. Cun-ningham of Dayton, Ohio, and Bessie Mae Jones of Salisbury, Md.; a great-grandfather, Howard J. Wright Sr.; two uncles, André Jones and Eric T. Kirchner of Bethel died Sunday, June 8, 2003, in his home. He was 86. Mr. Kirchner was born Sept. 10, 1916, on Spring Dale Farm, Middleburg, Md., son of the late Augustus Jesse and Lulu Norris Kirchner. He graduated from Thurmont High School. He served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps from February 1941 to June 1945. After a career as a commercial artist, Mr. Kirchner and his wife enjoyed traveling by motor home to many states and Canada. He moved to Bethel in 1983. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Irma Frank Kirchner; a son, Theodore N. Kirchner; a daughter, Nancy K. Crotty, M.D.; and six grandchildren. Mrs. Kurilla was born Jan. 16, 1929, in Philadelphia, daughter of the late Caroline Maguire and Harry Rendler. She was employed as secretary to the finance director of the Brandywine School District for 20 years, re-tiring in 1993. Mrs. Kurilla was a member of Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church, Oak Orchard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Jacqueline George, in 2000. She is survived by her husband, Joseph J. Kurilla of Lewes; a daughter, Celeste Khemlani of Winter Springs, Fla.; two sons, Daniel Kurilla of Birmingham, Ala., and Joseph Kurilla of Garland, Texas; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandson. She was 67. Mrs. Laramore was born June 20, 1935, in Sudlersville, Md., daughter of the late William and Edith Jackson Weller. She was a 1953 graduate of Sudlersville High School. She worked as a secretary for Playtex, Dover; at Leeds Travel Ware, Smyrna; and at D and R Supply, Chestertown, Md. Mrs. Laramore was a 20-year resident of Luther Towers, volunteering until her health failed, and was a member of the Modern Maturity Center and its Glee Club, with which she enjoyed singing and playing the piano. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Bill Hudson of Denton; a son and daughter-in-law, J. Michael and Ana Laramore of Virginia Beach, Va.; two brothers, William Weller Jr. of Dover and Donald J. Weller of Dawsonville, Ga.; a sister, Edith Hill of Dover; four grandchildren, the wife of one and the companion of one, Alfred "Bill" Hudson III and Laura Hudson, Anthony M. She was 92. Ms. LeBlond was born Oct. 8, 1910, in Chavigny-Bailleul, France, daughter of the late Raoul LeBlond and Héléne Fontaine. She worked for 23 years as a couturier in France and retired in November 1972. Following her retirement, Ms. LeBlond moved to the United States to be with her daughter and family. She enjoyed baby-sitting her grandchildren, gardening and cooking specialties, and of course, she loved her sewing, which was her livelihood. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Vivienne; and a brother-in-law, Paul. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marcelle and Jim Koehring of Camden; two grandsons and their spouses, Philippe and Robin Koehring of Dover and Chris and Kimberly Koehring of Valrico, Fla.; and four great-grandchildren, Christina, Jeffrey, Cierra and Kristofer. "Bill" Lowder Jr. of Milton and formerly of York, Pa., died of natural causes Fri-day, June 6, 2003, at York Hospital. He was 75. Mr. Lowder was born March 22, 1928, in York, son of the late Marion Caroline (Hullman) Lowder and William M. Lowder Sr. He resided in Milton for the past 18 years. Mr. Lowder was a U.S. Army Air Corps and U.S. Coast Guard veteran. He was employed for 28 years as a paid firefighter by the York City Fire Department and retired in 1978 from the former Eagle station. He had served in many of the York stations during his employment with the city. He also was employed for a number of years in fire safety at Borg Warner, York. He enjoyed playing golf and was the 1976 club champion at Grandview Golf Course, York. Mr. Lowder was a member of the American Legion, Milton, and the International Fire Fighters Associa-tion. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a half-sister, Betty Jane Glassey. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Gregory D. and Elaine Lowder of Shrewsbury, Pa.; three stepchildren, Richard Enders of Dover, Pa., and John Enders and Gayle Rudacille, both of York; and two brothers, John Lowder of Glen Rock, Pa., and George Lowder of Dallastown, Pa. He was 81. Mr. Murphy was born Jan. 20, 1922, in Denton, son of the late Oscar and Bessie (Jacobs) Murphy. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was wounded during the Battle of the Budge and re-ceived the Purple Heart. Mr. Murphy worked for several different companies, including Bancroft, Minquadale, Del.; Sammy Now-ell, Denton; Danny Crouse Sr., Denton; the Playtex Corp., Dover, Del.; and Cook and Son, Greensboro. He retired as a button cutter and a farmer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Hayward Murphy, Walter Murphy, Ralph Murphy and Roland Murphy; and a sister, Elizabeth Kelley. He is survived by six children, Louise Graff of Greenwood, Del., Mary Jane Christopher of Denton, Bert Murphy of Easton, Leona Welzel of Federalsburg, Margaret Christopher of Harrington, Del., and Cathy Richard of Henderson; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
