Ms. Bush died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, in Bayhealth- Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was born June 30, 1956, in Bridgeville, daughter of the late Dollie Bush and Jacob Cannon. She was the youngest of four children. Ms. Bush was a fun-loving person who loved to smile. She is survived by four daughters, Tiffany Triplett and Turkessa Bush, both of Dover, and Jameeka Bush and Eboneke Triplett, both of Chester, Pa.; four sons, Edmond Triplett, Prentice Triplett, Reginald Bush and Derrick Bush, all of Wilmington; a sister, Minnie Wingo of Dover; a brother, Jimmy Bush and his wife of Dover; nine grandchildren; and a host of other relatives, nieces, nephews and friends. Cheffo, 93, of Dover, were held Thursday, Jan. 9, at Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover. Ms. Cheffo died Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003, in Westminster Village Health Center, Dover. She was born in New York, daughter of the late Anthony and Teresa Cheffo. Ms. Cheffo had moved from Jersey City, N.J., to Dover in 1963 and worked as an administrative secretary at General Foods Corp. until her retirement. She was a warm and generous person who will be greatly missed by those who knew her. Ms. Cheffo had been a longtime member of Holy Cross Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ann R. Cheffo, in 1996. Arrangements were by the Funeral Homes of Michael J. Ambruso, Dover. --------------------------------------------------------------- * Bryanna Nichole Eanes Services for Bryanna Nichole Eanes, 5-month-old daughter of Tara Eanes Kemp and Bruce W. Smith Jr. were held Monday, Jan. 13, at Torbert Funeral Chapel, Dover. Bryanna died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was a happy baby, who loved music playing in the background. She was the family’s precious gift from God. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her maternal grandparents, Billy and Carol Eanes of Camden; paternal grandparents, Joyce and Paul Nickerson of Dover and Bruce Sr. and Linda Smith of Hartly; a sister, Michelle Kemp of Harrington; a brother, Timothy Winkler of Dover; and numerous aunts and uncles in the Dover area. Burial was in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover. --------------------------------------------------------------- * Henry John Eckert Sr. Mass of Christian burial for Henry John Eckert Sr., 55, of Dover, formerly of Salisbury, Md., was celebrated Tuesday, Jan. 14, in Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Delmar, Md. Father Edward M. Aigner officiated. Mr. Eckert died Friday, Jan. 10, 2003, in Salisbury. He was born in Baltimore, son of Sophia Eckert of Hebron, Md., and the late Henry Arthur Eckert. Mr. Eckert was self-employed at NAPA Auto Parts of Pocomoke City, Md. He was a member of St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church, Salisbury. In addition to his mother, he is survived by three sons, Henry John Eckert Jr. of Magnolia, Randy Eckert of Salisbury and Jerry Eckert of Glen Burnie, Md.; a daughter, Pam Haney of Delmar, Md.; a brother, Carroll Eckert of Titusville, Fla.; two sisters, Diane Totaro of Baltimore and Joann Griffin of Hebron; four grandchildren, Kira Eckert, Kasey Webster, Kayla Haney and Tony Bowen; and several nieces and nephews. Burial was in Springhill Memory Garden, Hebron. Arrangements were by Short Funeral Home, Delmar. --------------------------------------------------------------- * Violet Virginia Figgatt Services for Violet Virginia Figgatt, 77, of Marydel, Md., were held Friday, Jan. 10, in Daniels and Hutchison Funeral Home, Middletown. Mrs. Figgatt died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Marydel. Mrs. Figgatt was preceded in death by her husband, Henry E. Figgatt in 2000. She is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, Harold Wayne and Susan Figgatt of Kenbridge, Va., and Charles Edison and Esther Figgatt of Townsend; three daughters and a son-in-law, Marilyn “Sissy” and Lawson Pickett of Amelia, Va., and Cheryl Jean Reedy and Deborah Elaine Griffith, as well as her companion, Kenneth Allaband, all of Marydel. She is also survived by four sisters, Evelyn Walker, Lola Lane, Eula Christian and Jesse Tolbert, all of Virginia; a brother and sister-in-law, French and June Miller of West Virginia; a sister-in-law, Ruby Figgatt; 23 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends who will deeply miss her. Burial was in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear. --------------------------------------------------------------- * Marjorie Lolita Purnell Fisher Services for Marjorie Lolita Purnell Fisher, 96, of Dover, were held Monday, Dec. 30, at Whatcoat United Methodist Church, Dover. Mrs. Fisher died after a lengthy illness Monday, Dec. 23, 2002, in the Delaware Home and Hospital for the Chronically Ill, Smyrna. She was born Sept. 8, 1906, in Dover, daughter of the late Sallie and Sidney Purnell. Mrs. Fisher received her elementary education in the public schools of Dover and graduated from Howard High School in Wilmington. She later graduated from Delaware State College, now Delaware State University, with a degree in elementary education. She taught fourth grade for more than 30 years at the old Booker T. Washington Elementary School/Junior High School in the Dover Special School District. When it became the Capital School District, she continued to teach at West Dover Elementary, which was the old Booker T. Washington School. She retired from teaching in 1970 and did one year as a substitute teacher. She then enjoyed her family and friends. Her friends called her “Marge.” Mrs. Fisher touched the lives of many children by giving them all of the love, help, support, and encouragement they needed. Whenever one of her students would meet her on the street before she became ill, they would always ask her, “Do you remember me?” and “Thanks for all that you did for me as being one of the teachers who cared about students.” When it was time to have co-op student teachers, Mrs. Fisher would have one and, made sure they got the best training and took them under her wings. Her community activities included being a charter member and past basileus of the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa Alpha Phi Chapter Inc., Past Daughter Ruler of Pride of Dover Temple No. 784 I.B.P.O.E. of W., Past Loyal Daughter Ruler of Hattie B. Hubbard Council of Delaware, member of Electa Chapter No. 6 O.E.S.P.H.A., and a lifelong member of Whatcoat United Methodist Church. In her church, she worked diligently on many committees and served as chairperson for many of them. Mrs. Fisher enjoyed reading. Her favorite hymns were “His Eye Is on the Sparrow” and “Precious Lord.” She is survived by her daughter, Marjorie Alfreda Fisher-Dean of Dover; two granddaughters, Charlene Lolita and Carolyn Bernice Dean, both of Dover; three great-grandchildren, M. Frank Ross Jr., Day-Shawn Lawrence Dean and Charlisa Lynn Johnson, all of Dover. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Mollie Timmons of Newark, Md., and Nevada Timmons of Pocomoke City, Md.; two adopted sons, Tyrone La Val of Teaneck, N.J., and Howard Johnson of Raleigh, N.C.; and a host if nieces and nephews. Burial was in Whatcoat Cemetery, Dover. Arrangements were by Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover. --------------------------------------------------------------- * Cathryn S. ‘Kitty’ Hart Remembrance services for Cathryn S. “Kitty” Hart, 95, Magnolia, were held Saturday, Jan. 11, at Trader Funeral Home, Dover. Mrs. Hart died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, at Westminster Village Health Center, Dover. She was born Nov. 30, 1907, near Millington, Md., daughter of the late Tilden E. and Margaret Logan Story. Mrs. Hart worked in several secretarial positions, including the Driver Improvement Bureau of Motor Vehicle Department and the Motor Fuel Tax Division, retiring from state employment in April 1974. She was a long time member of Magnolia Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin C. Hart, in 1968. She is survived by two sons and their wives, M. Leon and Jean H. Hart and Conlyn L. and Mary Ann Hart, all of Dover; three grandchildren, JoAnne Ogden of Hatfield, Pa., Jodi L. Kiker of Atlantic City, N.J., and Brandon Hart of Dover She is also survived by two great-grandchildren; two great-great- grandchildren; three sisters, Roberta Leverage and Marie Hall, both of Church Hill, Md., and Betty Webb of Baltimore, Md.; a brother-in-law, John Burk of Highland, Md.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Wilson, 97, of Dover, were held Tuesday, Jan. 14, in Berry-Short Funeral Home, Felton. Mrs. Wilson died Friday, Jan. 10, 2003, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was born in Wyoming, daughter of the late Harry and Annie Clark. Mrs. Wilson was a homemaker and worked for the Kent County Board of Elections. She was a member of Willow Grove Church of God, where she was a Sunday school teacher. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl F. Wilson in 1960; four daughters, Virginia Coursey, Florence M. Luff, Dorothy Luff and Ruth Berg; and a son, Earl F. Wilson Jr. She is survived by three daughters, Hazel K. Korell of Henderson, Md., Patricia L. Hurley of Dover and Violet Mullins of Elkton, Md.; two sons, Harry R. Wilson of Willow Grove and William Wilson of Woodside; many grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden. --------------------------------------------------------------- * Holland P. ‘Woody’ Woodall Jr. Services for Holland P. “Woody” Woodall Jr., 60, of Magnolia, were held Saturday, Jan. 11, in Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover. Mr. Woodall died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, in his home. He was born Feb. 3, 1942, in Magnolia, son of the late Holland P. and Doris Woodall. Mr. Woodall graduated from William Henry High School, Dover. He enlisted and served in the U.S. Army for eight years, with a tour of duty in Vietnam, two tours in Korea and a tour in Germany. He was employed with Playtex for 35 years. Mr. Woodall enjoyed fishing, motorcycling, and photography. He was a jack- of-all-trades. He is survived by his wife, Emma G. Woodall; a son, Holland “Woody” Woodall III; his stepmother, Beatrice Woodall of Philadelphia; six brothers and four sisters-in-law, James and Mary Woodall of Edgewood, Md., Kenneth and Karen Woodall of Coatsville, Pa., Reginald and Gloria Woodall of Barclay, Md., Donald Woodall of Manhattan, N.Y., Larry and Earlue Woodall of Lincoln and Anthony Woodall of El Paso, Texas. He is also survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Carole Mattice of Alexandria, Va., and Phyllis and Alan Brown of Dover; his aunts, and their husbands, Helen Mosley, Agnes and Chester Lamb, Iris and William Wilson, Lillian and Charles Jackson and Florence Woodall, all of Dover, and Barbara Williams of Magnolia; his uncles and their wives, Walter and Elaine Bowers, Nathan Bowers of Smyrna, Bertue Bowers of Elkton, Md., and Carlton and Debbie Bowers of Washington, D.C.
