'Sandy' Andrews GREENWOOD - The family of Sandra L. "Sandy" Andrews of Greenwood will be having a special celebration of her life. Mrs. Andrews was born Feb. 25, 1946, in Hopewell, Va., daughter of Dorothy Breeding Belton and the late Thomas Belton. She was a 1964 graduate of Greenwood High School, and after rearing her children, she fulfilled a lifelong dream and received her registered-nurse certification at Delaware Technical '&;' Community College, Georgetown, in 1986 at age 40. Her nursing career included employment with Milford Memorial Hospital; Country Rest Home, Greenwood; the Harrison House, Georgetown; and the Methodist Manor House, Seaford, where she was a charge nurse. Mrs. Andrews was a godly lady who had a great compassion for the elderly. She wanted them to have good-quality lives. In addition to her mother, she is survived by two daughters and two sons-in- law, Michelle and Robert Mitchell of Greenwood and Sherry and Carl Chance of Seaford; her stepfather, Elmer Leggs Jr. of Greenwood; three sisters, Charlotte Fleischauer, Bonnie Dobraski and Elizabeth Maddox, all of Greenwood; six grandsons; and two granddaughters. All family and friends are welcome to join the celebration of Mrs. Andrews' life at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bridgeville Church of God, 7046 Seashore Highway (Del. 404 North). The Rev. Tom Gross will officiate. --------------------------------------------------------------- * Ronald C. 'Ronnie' Andrews GREENWOOD - Ronald C. "Ronnie" Andrews of Greenwood died, after a long illness, Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, at Genesis ElderCare, Seaford. He was 62. Mr. Andrews graduated from Greenwood High School in 1959. He was a farmer, which was one of his loves. Starting as a very young boy, he farmed until his health would not permit him to anymore. Mr. Andrews liked old cars. His pride and joy was his 1956 Ford convertible that he had when he was younger, and he held many fond memories of it. He also liked to watch and talk about sports of all kinds. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Shirley Andrews; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Kay and Douglas White of Lewes and Ronica and David McGovern of Virginia Beach, Va.; two grandchildren, Lance White and Danielle McGovern; his mother, Charlotte Andrews of Greenwood; a sister, Cynde Eakin of Greenwood; and a brother, Richard Andrews of Greenwood. She was 78. Mrs. Cantwell was born March 21, 1924, in Annapolis, Md., daughter of the late John F. and Naomi E. Wagner Brooks. She was employed as a unit clerk for 21 years at Milford Memorial Hospital. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Cantwell, in 1983. She is survived by four sons, Gerald E. Cantwell of Hurlock, Md., George Craig Cantwell of Key West, Fla., John T. Cantwell of Millsboro and Timothy D. Cantwell of Milford; a brother, John F. He was 36. Mr. Dennis was born Dec. 13, 1966, in Elkton, Md., son of Virginia Keyes Dennis of Elkton and the late Donald Lee Dennis Sr. He was a heavy-equipment operator for Maryland Materials, North East. Mr. Dennis was extremely family-oriented and very active with his children in their school and after-school activities. He also was an avid dirt track racing and NASCAR fan. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 12 years, Joyce S. Dennis; three children, Brittany, Thad and Katie, all of the family's home; a sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Dan Vannier of Harrington, Del.; six nieces; two nephews; two great-nephews; and a great-niece. Ellis Sr. DOVER - Charles E. Ellis Sr. of Dover died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 58. Mr. Ellis was born Sept. 7, 1944, in Wilmington, son of the late Samuel and Eleanor (Moore) Ellis. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Ellis was a security guard at Wesley College for many years. She was 88. Mrs. Fruscione was born March 30, 1914, in Busselton, Pa. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Fruscione enjoyed crocheting, macramé, oil painting, needlework and crafts. She also owned two horses, which gave her great joy. She liked to do yard work and flower gardening. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and will be remembered as a loving and giving person. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carmelo "Doc" Fruscione. She is survived by a daughter, with whom she lived, Lorraine M. Mrs. Haggerty was born Sept. 14, 1926, in Wilmington, daughter of the late Theodore and Mary Carroll. She was employed by Playtex for 20 years. After leaving Playtex, she was a seamstress and a homemaker. She enjoyed Little League baseball and other activities with her grandchildren. She also was an avid reader. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Nicholas Semans; her husband of 25 years, Clayton Semans; two sisters, Edna Morris and Ethel Myers, both of Maryland; and her husband of 13 years, William "Dick" Haggerty. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Louis E. and Betsy Semans of Viola; a daughter, with whom she lived, June L. Mrs. Holden was born Feb. 25, 1938, in Brooklyn, N.Y., daughter of the late Gunvald and Minnie (Scura) Olsen. She worked as a bookkeeper at the Modern Maturity Center, Dover, until her recent illness caused an early retirement. She enjoyed and loved animals, antiques, reading, arts and crafts. Mrs. Holden was a member of AARP and the Modern Maturity Center, and was a contributor to the North Shore Animal League and the Kent County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, as well as other animal groups. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Holden, on Jan. 31, 2000. Mr. Knotts was born Feb. 17, 1924, in Caroline County, son of the late Harry Fisher Knotts and Caroline Hobbs Knotts. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Knotts was a bridge and roads inspector for the Maryland State Highway Administration, retiring in 1996. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth C. Murray of Millsboro died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003, at Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. He was 63. Mr. Murray was born in Salisbury, Md., son of the late Vaughn C. and Eleanor Hollingsworth Murray. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Murray was the employment manager at NCR, Millsboro, for 10 years, following which he was the human-resources director for Intervet, Millsboro, retiring in May 2001 after 20 years of service. He was an avid fan of NASCAR; his favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt. Mr. Murray was a former member of Millsboro Town Council and a former Sussex County constable. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David Allen Murray, in 1967. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Ruth Ann Townsend Murray; a daughter and son-in-law, Angela M. and Brian Calloway of Millsboro; a brother, Charles Murray of Dagsboro; and a sister, Laura Baker of Salisbury. She worked as a psychiatric attendant at the Delaware State Hospital, New Castle, for 17 years before retiring due to disability. Mrs. Ridenour's favorite hobby was doing crafts. Taunton DREXEL HILL, Pa. - Diane N. Taunton of Drexel Hill, formerly of Lewes, Del., died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, in her home. She was 55. Ms. Taunton was born in Philadelphia. She was raised in and a longtime resident of Upper Darby before moving to Delaware 10 years ago. She was a graduate of Upper Darby High School and of the Delaware County Community College Nursing Program. As a registered nurse, Ms. Taunton was most recently employed by the Stockley Center, a residential special-needs facility near Georgetown, Del. She had previously worked at Delaware State Hospital, New Castle, Del. She returned to Drexel Hill to be with family during her illness. She was a musician who played piano and the bagpipes. She also enjoyed ceramics. Ms. Taunton was a member of Lewes Presbyterian Church and the American Legion Auxiliary, and was formerly a member of the Washington Memorial Pipe Band. She is survived by two sons, Lewis McCorkell of Upper Darby and Drew McCorkell of Drexel Hill; her father, Joe Taunton; two brothers, Gary Taunton and David Taunton; and two grandchildren. He was 78. Mr. Wright worked as a mechanic for Amtrak and predecessor railroads for 38 years, retiring in 1984. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Wright, in 1993. He is survived by his nephew, Gregory Wright of Dover, Del.; his niece, Eartha Arrington of New Castle, Del.; his great-niece, Lateebie Y. Wright of Dover; and several additional nieces and nephews.
