He was 83. Mr. Clark was born Nov. 6, 1919, son of the late George and Lida Clark. He was a veteran of World War II and honorably discharged in 1946. After his discharge he began his career in civil service at the Brainbridge Navel Base, Port Deposit, Md. later transferring to Dover Air Force Base. He retired from civil service in 1985 after 33 years of service. Mr. Clark enjoyed sports, travel, farming and spending time with family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ida Mindora Clark; three brothers, James, Thomas and George; and five sisters, Estella, Gladys, Agnes, Mae and Anna. He is survived by five sons, Glen Clark of Wilmington, Raymond Clark of Brooklyn, N.Y., Larry Clark of Hartly, Donald Clark of Newark and Terry Clark of Newark; four daughters, Erma Boyce of Long Island, N.Y., Estina Benson of Hartly, Anges Lewis of Milford and Carrie Clark of Hartly; a son-in-law, Dr. John Boyce; three daughters-in-law, Ada, Yvette and Charmaine; a loving sister- in-law, Delores Williams of Aberdeen, Md.; two special nieces, Helen Mosley and Agnes Lamb, both of Dover; 23 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two great- great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Greater Life Christian Church, Star Hill, where friends may call one hour earlier. Burial will be in Delaware Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Bear. Arrangements by Minus Funeral Home, Dover. --------------------------------------------------------------- * Lester 'Boo Boo' Dobson, 62 RIDGELY, Md. - Lester "Boo Boo" Dobson of Ridgely died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, in Ridgely. He was 62. Mr. Dobson was born Feb. 2, 1941, in Ridgely, son of Doretha Dobson of Ridgely and the late Lester Dobson. He came to live in Wilmington, Del., as a baby, with his aunt and uncle, Charlie and Elizabeth Bantum. He was one of four children in the Bantum family. Mr. Dobson graduated from Howard High School, Wilmington, in 1960. As a young man, he worked for Young's Body Shop, where he learned a trade of painting and knocking out dents on cars. He enjoyed doing this kind of work. He also worked as a longshoreman and at Speakman's, and retired from Chester- Crozier Medical Center, Chester, Pa., in maintenance. Mr. Dobson traveled around a lot and made many, many friends. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur Pitts and Charles Bantum Jr.; and a sister, Doreen King. In addition to his mother, he is survived by three daughters, Linda Moore, Felicia Jones, and Carla Dobson; a son, Derrick Dobson; nine sisters, Janie Ricketts, Florence Dobson-Gonzalez of Ridgely, Viola Grooms, Debbie Dobson, Sheila Parker, and Tina Dobson, all of Wilmington, Martina Bethea of Camden, N.J., Barbara Green and Mary Frances Rider; six brothers, Rodney Dobson of Ridgely, Melvin Dobson, Eugene Dobson, Michael Dobson, Darien Dobson all of Wilmington and Henry Wooten of Philadelphia; two sons-in-law, Collins Moore of New Castle, Del. and Darnell Muse of Chester, Pa.; a daughter-in-law, Janice Dobson of Chester, Pa.; two brothers-in-law, Juan Gonzalez and Richard Greene, both of Ridgely; four sisters-in-law, Sandra Pitts and Bernice Dobson, both of Ridgely, and Sylvia Dobson and Sheila Warren, both of Wilmington; five aunts, Betty Wyatt of Ridgely, Lois Dobson of Camden, N.J., Marion Evans and Marie Johnson both of Wilmington, and Doris Still of Landover; a great aunt, Edith Cooper of Camden, N.J.; an uncle, Thomas Dobson of Camden, N.J.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight in the Replanted Zion United Methodist Church, Ridgely. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in the Mount Joy United Methodist Church, Wilmington, where friends may also call two hours earlier. Burial will be in the Silverbrook Cemetery, Wilmington. Arrangements by Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover. --------------------------------------------------------------- * Warren Dempsey Edwards, 81 CECILTON, Md. - Warren Dempsey Edwards of Cecilton died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, in Union Hospital, Elkton, Md. He was 81. Mr. Edwards was born Dec. 15, 1921 in Earleville, son of the late Gilbert J. and Mamie Hughes Edwards Sr. He was a World War II Army veteran. He had worked as a truck driver for Bramble Construction and retired from Boulden Oil Co. Mr. Edwards enjoyed fishing. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lillie Young Edwards; three daughters, Betty Dixon of Bear, Caroline Garnett of Newark and Mamie Edwards of Cecilton; a son, Frank Young of Greensboro, N.C.; a sister, Arrie Moore of of Cecilton; a brother, Crawford Brinkley of Cecilton; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Union Bethel A.M.E. Church, Cecilton, where friends may call one hour earlier. Burial will be in Union Bethel Cemetery. Schaech, Galena. --------------------------------------------------------------- * Wayne Gardner, 63 ELSMERE - Wayne Gardner of Elsmere died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, in the V.A. Medical Center, Elsmere. He was 63. Mr. Gardner was born in Townsend, son of Margaret Hardy, and the late William Edward Gardner. He was an Army veteran, having served as a paratrooper. He had owned and operated his own business as an installer of printing presses. He retired in 1999. Mr. Gardner loved NASCAR, the Delaware Bay, and the city of Chicago, where he had formerly resided. He especially loved to work on printing presses. Wayne never met a stranger who wasn't his friend. In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sons, Wayne Gardner Jr., of Illinois and Eric Gardner of Dover; a daughter, Donna Harbit of West Virginia; a stepmother, Mae Gardner of Smyrna; two brothers, Melvin Gardner of Clayton and David Gardner of Hartly; three sisters, Doris Jean Hindt and Darlene Welzel, both of Clayton and Sharon Daniels of Smyrna; four grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren. "Woody" Landis of Lewes died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, in his home. Mr. Landis retired from Kutco Printing in Harrisburg, Pa., in 1991. Mr. Landis was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, past master of Brownstone Lodge 666 A.F.'&;' A.M. in Hershey, Pa., and a member of Zembo Temple in Harrisburg. He is survived by his wife, Patricia K. Landis; a sister, Louella Fies of Hershey; a son, Charles of Texas; two daughters, Patricia Landis of Mount Joy, Pa. and Pamela Alger of Hershey; two stepsons, Lynn Shirey of Schykill Haven, Pa. and Seven Shirey of Lebanon, Pa.; two step-daughters, Patrice and Zeiger of Palmyra and Gail Spitler of Hershey; 13 grandchildren; and six great- grandchildren.
