Mrs. Antone was born Aug. 17, 1910, in Felton, daughter of the late Oliver and Myrtle Shreffler Morris. She was a homemaker and had worked as a geriatric nurse for several years before retirement. Champaneria. 'Bud' Clayton Jr., 93 MASSEY, Md. - Nelson D. "Bud" Clayton Jr. of Massey died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, in Corsica Hills Nursing Home, Centreville. He was 93. Mr. Clayton was born July 10, 1909, son of the late Nelson and Harriett Ingram Clayton Sr. He worked for the Sun Oil Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1972. Mr. Clayton moved from Pennsylvania to Massey, where he purchased a farm in 1953 and had operated since. He was a baseball fan. Mr. Clayton was a member of the Kent County Farm Bureau. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Clara in 1997. He is survived by a son, Nelson D. Clayton III of Stevensville; a daughter, Judith C. Hogan of Junction City, Kan.; four sisters, Harriet Herr of Philadelphia, Edith Lloyd and Beverly Martin, both of Glen Mills, Pa., and Ann Nesbitt of Seaford; two grandsons, Kevin and Erik Hogan; and a great-grandson, Murphy Hogan. Daffin, 58 DENTON, Md. - Ronald F. Daffin of Denton died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, in The Memorial Hospital of Easton, Md. He was 58. Mr. Daffin was born June 3, 1944 in Easton, son of the late Raymond F. and Elizabeth Navratil Daffin. He graduated from Col. Richardson High School class of 1962. Mr. Daffin served his country in the United States Army. He had been employed as a route salesman for Wonder and Zaffere Bread Cos., had been a manager of Doc's Quick Shop in Oxford, Md., and had been employed by the state Of Maryland as a correctional officer in Jessup and Church Hill correctional facilities. Mr. Daffin was a member of Church of the Brethren in Denton and had attended Faith Fellowship in Preston. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Rose Shirley Young Daffin. She was 81. Mrs. Day was born Dec. 9, 1921, in the Lewes area, daughter of the late Rosa Mae Morris and George B. Johnson. She was a home-care provider for homebound geriatric patients in the Lewes and Rehoboth Beach area. Mrs. Day was a member of the Nanticoke Indian Association of Oak Orchard, near Millsboro. Arrangements by Miller Funeral Service, Milford. --------------------------------------------------------------- * Carolyn Raulfs Ellis, 75 SEAFORD - Carolyn Raulfs Ellis of Seaford died of complications of cancer Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, in Life Care at Lofland Park, Seaford. She was 75. Mrs. Ellis was born in Elizabeth City, N.C., daughter of the late Charles F. and Carrie Williams Raulfs. She received her bachelor's degree from East Carolina Teachers College, now East Carolina University, in 1950. Mrs. Ellis worked as a teacher in her native state, North Carolina, in Asheboro and High Point, and then, in Delaware, in Laurel and in Seaford, retiring after 32 years. She was an outstanding teacher in science and mathematics. She had weekend programs in Lewes where the students spent the night and studied nature and marine life. In 1969, she contracted her first bout with melanoma. She was successfully operated on at Sloan-Kettering Memorial Hospital in New York City. It has been reported that she was the longest-living survivor of melanoma that recurred. In 1973, she appeared in a Public Broadcasting System special titled "The Killers" with doctors from Sloan-Kettering. This documentary was seen in the United States and in many other parts of the world. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was active in the community and a friend to many. She loved to travel, garden and visit her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Ellis was an active member of Mount Olivet United Methodist Church and the Elizabeth Circle at the church. She was a member of the National Education Association, the Delaware State Education Association, the East Carolina University Alumni Association and the Pirates Club. She was a member of the Friends of the Library and the Spade and Trowel Garden Club. She also served on an advisory board for Blackwater Wildlife Refuge in Maryland. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Leon R. Ellis; a daughter, Cynthia Ellis McClintock of Richmond, Va.; two sons, Randy Ellis of Richmond and Thad Ellis of Atlanta, Ga.; and nine grandchildren. "Chic" Hendrie of Frederica died of heart failure Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, in his home. He was 67. Mr. Hendrie was born in East Rutherford, N.J., son of the late Charles B. and Lena Thomas Hendrie. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Mr. Hendrie had worked in construction most of his life, retiring in 1996. He was dedicated to his children and grandchildren. She was 69. Mrs. Herd was born in Washington, D.C. She graduated from Caesar Rodney High School in Wyoming. She joined the CIA and had assignments in Japan, Philippines and Taiwan where she met her husband and lived for 20 years. They returned to the U.S.A. and lived in Falls Church, Va. until 1994, when they moved to a seniors' development outside Leesburg. Mrs. Herd was active in Eastern Star, Ikebana International, volunteer work and traveling. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Lindsey B. Mrs. Panicola was a spirited woman who in her younger days was known as "Toots Marino, Brooklyn's Blues Singer," as the female vocalist in an orchestra. She graduated from Drake Business School in Brooklyn, N.Y. She worked as a receptionist for the rectory of St. Frances Cabrini in Coram, N.Y. for 20 years. Mrs. Panicola was a member of the Columbiettes, while her husband was as a Knight of Columbus, and was a prominent council and community member of St. Joseph's Village, Selden, N.Y. She served as a eucharistic minister for the Catholic church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Anthony V. Panicola, in 1999. She was 93. Miss Tubbs was born in Oak Grove, west of Seaford, daughter of the late Leroy and Florence Messick Tubbs. She was a telegraph operator for Western Union for 40 years. Miss Tubbs was treasurer of the Soroptimist Club of Seaford for more than 25 years. She attended Wesley United Methodist Church. She is survived by two great-nephews, Alan L. Tubbs of Boston and Roger W. Tubbs of Seaford; and three nieces, Catherine Matthews of Laurel, Faye Fields of Salisbury, Md., and Elaine Monger of Elkton, Md. Warner of Chestertown died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, in Magnolia Hall Nursing Center, Chestertown. She was 98. Mrs. Warner was born in Sandy Bottom, daughter of the late Perry and Luvenia Freeman. She was employed by private families and was a custodian at St. Paul Church in Sandy Bottom. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and knitting. She and her late sister, Hannah Grinnell, did wallpaper hanging. Mrs. Warner was a member of John Wesley Methodist Church in Sandy Bottom. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Warner; four brothers; and four sisters. She is survived by five daughters, Edna Phillips, Ruth Phillips both of Worton, Barbara Warner of Sandy Bottom, Gloria Brown of Germantown, Pa. and Janice Miller of Brooklyn, N.Y.; three sons, George Warner of Chestertown, Stanley Warner of Church Hill and Edward Warner of Pondtown; three sons-in-law, Arlington Phillips, James Phillips and George Brown Sr.; three daughters-in-law, Patricia Warner, Diane Warner and Sadie Warner; 15 grandchildren; 24 great- grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joanne Wells; and a son, William Wells. She is survived by her husband, Melville M. Wells Jr.; a son, Melville M. He was 69 Mr. Wilson was born in Georgetown, son of the late Rodney Wilson Sr., and Carrie (King) Wilson. He was a self-employed truck driver for 30 years. He retired in 1992. Mr. Wilson enjoyed playing horseshoes. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Helen Millman Wilson; a brother, Howard Wilson of Milford; three sisters, Lenora Webb and Doris Carey, both of Milford, and Kathryn Coverdale of Greenwood; and several nieces and nephews.
