He was 66. Mr. Bailey was an electrician for Kriss Construction. He coached Little League baseball, enjoyed spending time fishing and the outdoors and his special love for his dog, Dipsy Doodle. Mr. Bailey was a member of Walter L. Foxx Post No. 2, American Legion, and C'&;'W Moose Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents, Blaine F. and Pearl Taylor Bailey Sr.; and a sister, Francis Goslee. Daly of Harrington, formerly of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Ireland, died Saturday, April 26, 2003, in his home. He was 76. Mr. Daly was born July 20, 1926, in Ireland, son of the late John F. and Margaret Smith Daly. He was employed as a general supervisor for Con-Edison for 38 years in Manhattan, N.Y. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Daly of Harrington; four daughters, Kathleen Brunette of Freehold, N.J., Maureen Cammidge of Erie, Pa., Patricia Daly of Brooklyn and Peggy Minikel of Middletown; a son, John P. Francis Autman Jr. of Hartly died Monday, April 28, 2003, in his home. He was 71. Mr. Autman was born in Wilmington, son of Edythe McClure Autman of Wilmington and the late G. Francis Autman Sr. He was a 1950 graduate of the Wilmington Friends School and, in 1954, was graduated from Middlebury College, where he received his bachelor of arts degree. In 1959, he received a degree in law from the Law School, University of Virginia, and received his master's degree from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, in finance and banking in 1960. Mr. Autman was a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Army. He served as assistant to the treasurer of International Oil Corp. from 1960 to 1961, and later served as an associate with the law firm of Theisen and Lank until 1962. From 1963 until 1965, he served as assistant to the attorney general of Delaware, after which time he conducted the private practice of law. From 1977 through 1980, he served as executive vice president of the board of directors of the nonprofit corporation for improvement of the central business district of Wilmington. From 1981 through 1984, he returned to private law practice, and in 1985, served as an adjunct instructor in constitutional law and criminal law and its procedures at Delaware Technical and Community College, Terry Campus, Dover, until his retirement in 1996, after which he served for several years as an adjunct instructor at Wilmington College. Mr. Autman was a former member of the board of directors of the Boys Clubs of Wilmington, was the first chairman of the Consumer Affairs Board of Delaware and had served as a member of the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States and the Bar of the Supreme Court of the State of Delaware. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Brady Semans. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Karen Mellish Autman of Hartly; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Sabra and Jeffrey Horvat of Dover, Dawn Autman of Bear and Elizabeth "Lisa" and Robin Semans of Felton; a sister, Lynne Erbach of Wilmington; two brothers, David Autman of Wilmington and Steve Autman of Chadds Ford, Pa.; three grandchildren, Mackenzi Semans and Madison Semans, both of Felton, and Elizabeth Hill of Bear; four step- grandchildren, Shannon Cunningham, Candice Horvat and Samantha Horvat, all of Pennsville, N.J., and Monica Horvat of Cincinnati; and a special friend of many years, Elizabeth "Petti" Cox of Dover. Bowen of Gettysburg died Sunday, April 27, 2003, in the Gettysburg Hospital. He was 59. Dr. Bowen was born March 1, 1944 in Renovo, son of the late Max F. and Alice Smyth Bowen. He was a 1962 graduate of Cameron County High School and received his undergraduate degree from Penn State University in 1967. He completed his studies at Kent State University in Ohio, receiving a doctorate in psychology. He later was employed at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. Dr. Bowen was a clinical psychologist in the Gettysburg area. Dr. Bowen was involved in the Adams/Hanover Counseling Services and later went into private practice at Counseling '&;' Psychology Associates in Gettysburg. He served on the staff of the Gettysburg Hospital and was an adjunct professor at Gettysburg College. He was a member of the American Psychology Association and the Pennsylvania Psychology Association. He had a lifelong interest in community and progressive politics and remained interested in football since his playing days at Cameron County High School. He was predeceased in death by two brothers, Don Bowen and William Bowen. He is survived by his wife Laura Fridrich Bowen; two sons, Nathan Bowen of Timonium, Md., and Colin Bowen of Gettysburg; a brother, Timothy Bowen of Trout Run; and a number of nieces and nephews. "Boy '&;' Pudgy" Causey Jr. of Harrington died Friday, April 25, 2003, in Christiana Hospital in Newark. He was 46. Mr. Causey was born Sept. 24, 1956, in Milford. He attended Banneker High School and later Lake Forest High School. He was employed by Stanley's Asphalt Paving and Trappe Packing of Houston. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Dorothy M. Burris and Reynolds W. Causey Sr.; a nephew, Deshion D. Abrams; a "Pop," John Abrams; and his foster parents, Ruth and Willie Brundage. He is survived by his stepmother, Mary M. Abrams of Felton; a stepdaughter, Desiree Stewart; two sisters, Delores M. Elliot and S. Arrangements by Bennie Smith Funeral Home. --------------------------------------------------------------- * Marion Preston Grabill, 87 FELTON - Marion Preston Grabill of Felton died Monday, April 28, 2003, in his home. He was 87. Mrs. Grabill was born Aug. 22, 1915 in Baltimore, daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth Grabill. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in England during World War II. Most of his life was spent in the newspaper business. Before entering the war he worked for the Baltimore Sun and the Baltimore News American. Returning from the war, he relocated to Wilmington, where he worked for the Delmar News Agency as manager. In 1962 he moved to Dover and became co-owner of the Dover Newsstand with Stanley Budner from the Delmar News Agency until his retirement in 1978. He was an extraordinary husband and father who always put his family first in his life. He was a kind, gentle and loving person who appreciated life. In previous years he enjoyed going to the racetrack, bowling and fishing. His favorite past time, however, was watching his Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Colts/Ravens on TV. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Katherine; and a daughter and son- in-law, Barbara and Charles Sanders; two grandsons, Brandon and Gary, both of Felton; and two step-grandsons, Dustin and Brian of Valdosta, Ga. Funeral services and burial will be 11 a.m. Friday in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear. --------------------------------------------------------------- * Allen Arthur Grimes, 85 CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Allen Arthur Grimes of Chestertown died of natural causes Wednesday, April 23, 2003, in the Department of Veterans Affairs Hospital in Philadelphia. He was 85. Mr. Grimes was born in Kent County, son of the late Mary Wright Sparks and John Grimes. He attended Garnett High School. Mr. Grimes joined the U.S. Army and served his country in World War II. He was employed by the Campbell Soup Co. Following his retirement, he worked for Starkey Farms until the early 1990s. Mr. Grimes was a member of the Male and Female Beneficial Association No. 2. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marian Cann Grimes; a half-brother, Joseph Wilson; and a half-sister, Lottie Wilmer. He is survived by three sisters-in-law, Clara Miller, Shirley Hamilton and Frances Kellum, all of Chestertown; two brothers-in-law, Leonard Miller and Melvin Hamilton, both of Chestertown; two nieces, Sandra Lindsey and Cassandra Edwards; a grandson, Dareaus Anderson; and a devoted friend, Allen Trinks. Mills of Millsboro, formerly of Seaford, died Monday, April 28, in Green Valley Nursing Home, Millsboro. She was 87. Mrs. Mills was born in Laurel, daughter of the late George W. and Edna Mae Parsons Jones. She was a salesperson at Peebles in Seaford. Her favorite pastimes were making and collecting crafts, and she loved beads and seashells. She will be missed and remembered as a great cook by her family and friends. Mrs. Mills was a member of Seaford Wesleyan Church, The Ark in Seaford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Steve Mills; and two brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, George S. Mills Sr.; a daughter, Joan E. He was 64. Mr. Perry was born Sept. 16, 1938, in Rock Hall, son of the late James Edward and Ida Mae Middleton Perry. He was educated in the Rock Hall school system. At a young age he began his career as a self-employed waterman. He harvested oysters, fish, and crabs in his workboat, "Al Ray," which was also the name he was affectionately known as. Mr. Perry worked in this capacity until his retirement in 2000. Mr. Perry was a member of Chestertown Elks Lodge and the Waterman's Association. He is survived by a son, Allen Lloyd Perry Jr. of Baltimore; a daughter, Laurie Perry Gardner of Stevensville; two sisters, Betty Mae Beck of Rock Hall and Ada Louise Parsons of Baltimore; a granddaughter, Mackenzie Alana Gardner of Stevensville; and his ex-wife, Elaine Benda Perry, to whom he was married for 22 years. Mrs. Sherbine was born Jan. 28, 1911, in Beaverdale, Pa., daughter of the late Swan John and Elizabeth (Larson) Johnson. She was a retired teacher, having taught both elementary-school and special- education students. Mrs. Sherbine was a former member of Wilmore United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, W. Lawrence Sherbine; a son, Robert Sherbine; three brothers, Carl Johnson, Harry Johnson and Edward Johnson; and a sister, Margaret Fil. Webb of Milford died Tuesday April 29, 2003, in her home. She was 81. Mrs. Webb was born in Milford, daughter of the late Lucius C. and Alice (Robbins) Webb. She was a graduate of Milford High School and then attended Keystone Secretarial School in Swarthmore, Pa. After school, she began working as a secretary in Philadelphia. She then moved back to Delaware to work at the Playtex Corp. for several years, where she started as a secretary and retired as payroll secretary. Mrs. Webb was a member of Avenue United Methodist Church, Milford, the Milford A.A.R.P. and was a master gardener. She is survived by two sisters, Orpha W. Ashton of Milford and Margaret W. Osborne of Dover; a brother, Robbins (Bob) Webb of Milford; four nieces; four nephews; five great nieces; and eight great nephews. She was 46. Ms. White was born in Queens, N.Y., daughter of the late Ethel Irene Pickney White of Queens. She worked at Kent Crest, Delaware State University, Woolworth's and Playtex of Dover. She retired from Playtex. She loved cooking big dinners for family and spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed shopping for herself and grandchildren with her daughters. She also liked spending time with her sister, Deborah Watts of Magnolia. Ms. White previously attended Love Temple, under the leadership of Elder Louis Bowers Sr., and participated in various activities. She was president of the singles ministries, press coordinator for Love Temple Ensemble, president of vacation Bible school and a member of Y.W.C.C. She also was an usher and sang in the Love Temple choir and Love Temple Ensemble. After being a member of Love Temple for 15 years, she became a member of Emanuel Pentecostal Church under Bishop Cooper. In addition to her sister, she is survived by three daughters, Quinetta M. Abrams, Shajuanna White and Jamella White, all of Dover; a son-in-law, William H. Abrams Jr.; a nephew, Robert White of Magnolia; six grandchildren, Kaylin Brundage, Jada Abrams, Kalil Abrams, Sakai Person, Keon Malone and Namiah Malone, all of Dover; and a number of brothers and sisters in New York.
