Christine Ellis, 86 SEAFORD - C. Christine Ellis of Seaford died Monday, April 7, 2003, in Genesis Eldercare, Seaford. She was 86. Mrs. Ellis was born Dec. 4, 1916, in Birmingham, Ala., daughter of the late Ed and Leona Carroll Sharp. For several years she owned and operated Lucy's Flowers in Federalsburg, Md. Earlier she had been employed at The E.I. DuPont Co. in Seaford. Mrs. Ellis attended the First Baptist Church in Seaford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William G. Ellis, on Nov. 11, 1995 and a brother, Carroll Sharp. She is survived by two daughters, Judy Weldon and Susan L. Towers, both of Seaford; a sister, Mildred Stiff of Chicago, Ill.; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Services were held in Frampton-Hawkins-Eskow Funeral Home. The Rev. Michael Hopkins officiated. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery, Federalsburg. --------------------------------------------------------------- * Edna M. Garvin, 92 SEAFORD - Edna M. Garvin of Seaford died of heart failure Friday, April 18, 2003, in the Lewes Convalescent Center, Lewes. She was 92. Mrs. Garvin was born Aug. 27, 1910, in Seaford. She was a domestic worker in Philadelphia. Mrs. Garvin gave her heart to the lord a long time ago and was a member of the Christian Tabernacle Church in Philadelphia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Trump Garvin. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Catherine and Brooks Cannon of Seaford; a sister-in-law, Anita Nichols of Seaford; five grandsons and their wives, Brooks Cannon and his devoted friend, Elaine Scott, Donald and Henrietta Cannon, and Melvin and Alfreda Cannon, all of Seaford, Wayne and Alisia Cannon of Dover, and Ronnie and Venita Cannon of Milford; two granddaughters and their husbands, Barbara and James Harmon Sr. of Millsboro and Theresa C. and William Justice of Seaford; 23 great-grandchildren, 48 great-great-grandchildren, three great-great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight in the Bethel United Methodist Church, Bridgeville. Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in the church. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary AME Church Cemetery, Concord. --------------------------------------------------------------- * Agnes Hadley, 92 GALENA, Md. - Agnes Hadley of Galena died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, in Laurelwood Nursing Home, Elkton. She was 92. Mrs. Hadley was born Feb. 5, 1911, in Galena, daughter of the late John and Mary Woodall Newnam. She was a graduate of Salisbury Normal School and the University of Maryland. She operated a private kindergarten until 1961, when she began teaching 2nd grade at Galena School. Mrs. Hadley was an active member of St. Dennis Roman Catholic Church, serving with their Altar-Rosary Society and teaching Sunday school. She was also a member of the Retired Teacher's Association and helped organize the Galena Twig Library. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Walter D. Hadley, in 1974; a daughter, Agnes A. Blakslee, and a brother, John F. Newnam. She is survived by three daugthers, Joan Campbell and Connie Green, both of New Castle, and Jean McCain of Newtown Square, Pa.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday in Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., Galena, MD 21635. --------------------------------------------------------------- * Daryl Joseph Hogan, 79 REHOBOTH BEACH - Daryl Joseph Hogan of Rehoboth Beach died Monday, April 21, 2003, in his home. He was 79. Mr. Hogan was born in New Kensington, Pa., son of the late Joseph and Tamzon (Bailey) Hogan. He had served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Hogan had been employed as the building and grounds supervisor for the Washington, D.C. School District for 17 years, retiring in 1979. He enjoyed carpentry and was a self-taught organist. Mr. Hogan was a member of the Civitan Club, Lanham, Md. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy Miller Hogan; two sons, Gregory Hogan of Frankford and Keith Hogan of Rehoboth Beach; a sister, Shirley Remaly of Berryville, Va.; four grandchildren, Janice Cumberledge of Milford, Kimberly Eubanks of Laurel, Md., Joshua Hogan of Frankford, and Anna Lee Hogan of Rehoboth Beach; and three great-grandchildren. Mitchell, 73 DELMAR - Vernon R. Mitchell of Delmar died Sunday, April 20, 2003, in the Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, Md. He was 73. Mr. Mitchell was born in Selbyville, son of the late Charles and Minnie Mitchell. He had worked for the former Curtis Steen Co. and later for Coastal Supply Co., both in Dagsboro. Mr. Mitchell attended the Bethel Tabernacle in Clarksville. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Sarah Mitchell Bayly of Delmar; a sister, Cecil Mae Coffin of Walston Switch, Md.; and several nieces and nephews. She was 77. Mrs. Stoner was born June 4, 1925, in Salisbury, Md., daughter of the late Royce B. and Belva Wheatley Wilson, She was an alumna of Hurlock High School and Western Maryland College. She worked as a translator for the Federal Bureau of Investigation and as a substitute teacher, but above all was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. Mrs. Stoner was an active volunteer leader at National Institutes of Health, at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital and at St. John's United Methodist Church in Seaford. She is survived by her beloved husband, Daniel Doub Stoner; her son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. J. Brooke and Victoria Willson of Ashland, Va.; her stepdaughter, Susanne Stoner of Hagerstown, Md.; her grandchildren, Brantley and Sarah Willson Craig and Andrew B. Willson all of Charlottesville, Va., and Benjamin T. Willson of Ashland, Va.; her sister and brother-in-law, Ruth W. and Richard M. Laws of Salisbury; her nieces and nephews, Cathy W. and Roger Hyneman of Salisbury and Richard and Wendy Laws of Berlin, Md.; and a host of cousins and friends. Box 299, Seaford, DE 19973. --------------------------------------------------------------- * Theresa Giordano St. Sauveur, 48 FREDERICA - Theresa Giordano St.Sauveur of Frederica died unexpectedly Saturday, April 19, 2003, in Bayhealth Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 48. Mrs. St.Sauveur was born Oct. 22, 1954, in Brooklyn, N.Y., daughter of the late Beatrice Roten and Roy Giordano. She was raised in St. Petersburg, Fla., and made Delaware her home the last 23 years. She was employed at Betsy Ross and enjoyed working. She was a gifted cook who was very much adored by all who knew her. She enjoyed crocheting and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be missed by all who knew and loved her Mrs. St.Sauveur was a member of St. Stephen's Church in Harrington. She had a deep belief and much faith in our Lord, Jesus Christ, our Savior. She is survived by her husband of nine years, Norman St.Sauveur; two daughters, Rachel Miller of Frederica and Allyson St.Sauveur of Dover; two brothers, Raymond Striano of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Jerry Politi of Wilder, Ga.; four grandchildren, Sean Skutt, Jeffrey Skutt, Franklin Skutt and Jeasea Skutt; three cousins, Barbara Green, Kimberly Green and Joey Green; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was 59. Mr. Williams was born April 13, 1944, in Hayden, son of the late John Williams Sr. and Evelyn Virginia (Hynson) Williams. He graduated from Kennard High School in Centreville, Class of 1963. He owned and operated a school bus for Queen Anne's County. Mr. Williams was a member of St. John A.M.E. Zion Church of Laurel, Del. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Joan (Groce) Williams; a son, Jonathan D. Williams of Smyrna. Del.; a godson, Timothy Williams of Price; two sisters, Elva Williams of Wilmington, Del., and Charolottie Williams of Price; and a granddaughter, Destini Hope Williams.
