She was 85. Ms. Hopkins was born Oct. 27, 1917, in Bolivar, N.Y. She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, and a master's degree in library science from Case Western Reserve University. Married in 1940 and later divorced, she worked as a grade-school teacher and librarian. While living in Dover, Del., and Sudlersville, Md., she worked in positions at the Dover Air Force Base School and city of Dover and state of Delaware libraries. After moving to Carlsbad in 1970, she worked as a children's librarian for the San Diego County Library. Ms. Hopkins traveled widely before and after her retirement in 1981. She was preceded in death by a son, Scott Hopkins, in 1975 while he was serving in the U.S. Coast Guard. She is survived by a sister, Anita Donahue of Carlsbad; five children, Eric Hopkins of Clayton, Del., Mark Hopkins of Columbia, Ann Hopkins Gosman of Carlsbad, Michael Hopkins of Chico and Suzy Hopkins Bateman of Senora, as well as their respective spouses; 10 grandchildren, including four residing in Delaware; and five great-grandchildren, four residing in Delaware. Memorial services will be private. --------------------------------------------------------------- * Christine Cora Meade, 67 DOVER - Christine Cora Meade of Dover died Friday, March 28, 2003, in her home. She was 67. Mrs. Meade was born May 10, 1935, in Camden, daughter of the late James C. Bordley Sr. and Cora Bordley. She received her early education at the Paul Lawrence Dunbar Elementary School in Camden, Booker T. Washington High School in Dover and Delaware State College (now Delaware State University) in Dover, where she received her bachelor of science degree in business education. Mrs. Meade was hired as a secretary to work at Playtex in Dover. Later, she was employed by Delaware State College, where she was hired as a secretary in the president's office, then in public relations, where she remained until her retirement. She was united in holy matrimony to James C. Meade June 14, 1958. She was a devoted wife and a very loving mother and grandmother. Her family was the love of her life. She also enjoyed going to the movies and line dancing at the Modern Maturity Center. She lived and enjoyed life to the fullest. Mrs. Meade accepted Christ at an early age at Zion A.M.E. Church and later became a devoted and faithful member of Mount Zion A.M.E. Church, Dover, where she served for more than 40 years. She was a member of the Stewards Board, treasurer of the Sunday School, first vice president of the local lay organization and a member on the conference level. She enjoyed traveling to all lay conventions and activities on local and First District levels. She was a member of Delaware Retired School Personnel, Delaware State University Alumni Association and the NAACP. She was a faithful member of the Monday night exercise class. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Dennis Bordley Sr. and Harvey Bordley. She is survived by her devoted husband of 45 years, James C. Meade; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Wayne Meade of El Cerrito, Calif., Michael and Gloria Meade of Dover and Craig Meade of Middletown; a precious daughter and son-in-law, Donna L. and Robert Meade Copper; four sisters and two brothers-in- law, Barbara Bordley of Camden, Carolyn and Russell Pleasanton and Sarah Bordley, all of Dover, and Ernestine and James Collins of Camden; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, James C. Bordley Jr. and Phyllis Bordley and George and Janice Bordley, all of Dover; six other sisters-in-law, Rachel Johnson and Doretha Hampton, both of Townsend, Vella Mae Meade of Dover, Harriet Brown of Georgia and Shirley Bordley and Ella Bordley, both of Camden; three other brothers-in-law, Cornell Hampton of Townsend, Theodore Meade of Wilmington and Norman Meade of Durham, N.C., two grandsons, Ronald Meade and James R. Meade, both of Dover; three granddaughters, Jasmine Christine Meade of Dover and Marquita Copper and Chantel Copper, both of Wichita, Kan.; an uncle, Ellis Patterson of Chester, Pa.; two aunts, Reba Black of Harrington and Gertrude Bordley of Dover; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends. Mosely of Dover formerly of Philadelphia, died Wednesday, March 26, 2003, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 93. Ms. Mosely was born May 10, 1909 in Swedesboro, N.J. She was raised in Pondtown, Md. She received her education in the Philadelphia School District. Ms. Mosely was retired from the Pennsylvania Railroad since 1961. She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter; and a great- grandson. She is survived by a daughter, Jane M. Downes of Dover; three grandchildren, Jane Stevens, Paul W. Downes and Betty Jo Smith and her husband Courtney; three great-grandsons, Jamie Downes, Ericke Evans and his wife, Carlona and Scott Smith; two great-great grandsons, Jamie Downes, Jr. and Jordan Downes and their mother Nikia Wongus; an adopted grandson, John Stanford Jr.; and three special cousins, Marry Etta, Kenchun Alston and Martha Collins; and a host of cousins and friends. He was 91. Mr. Outten was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was retired. He had been a self-employed barber, and later worked for Collins and Ryan Gas Co. of Millsboro for 27 years. Mr. Outten was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of the Millsboro Volunteer Fire Co. and past commander of American Legion Post 22. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Georgie Outten; and two brothers, George Outten and Joe Outten. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Daisey W. Outten; two nephews and their respective wives, Roger and Ginger Hitchens and James and Louise Hitchens; five nieces and the respective husbands of three, Elaine and Wayne Breasure, Deanna and Darryl McCabe, Ruth Ann Justice, Susan Culbert and Bonnie and William Williams; and four grandnieces and grandnephews, Cheri Tyner, Danan Rockwood, Devan Culbert and Katherine Williams. She was 84. Mrs. Quaintance was born March 31, 1918, in Delaware County, Pa., daughter of the late Otto and Elizabeth Ross Wolff. She grew up in Vienna, Md., and was educated in the Dorchester County public school system. Mrs. Quaintance owned and operated the Delmar Cleaners in Middletown for many years. She enjoyed traveling. Mrs. Quaintance was an active member of St. Anne's Episcopal Church, Middletown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, Robert L. Quaintance in 1990; a son, Gary L. Quaintance; two sisters, Angeline Simmons and Maurel Drennan; and a brother, Wilson Wolff. She is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Virginia W. and Ray Hibberd of Glen Burnie, Md., a brother, Rodman E. Wolff of Easton, Md.; granddaughter, Dominique D. He was 9. Kyle was born Sept. 19, 1993 in Dover. He was the son of Hugh and Carolyn Reid of Dover. He was a third-grade student at South Dover Elementary School where he enjoyed attending classes and interacting with his peers and staff. Kyle was a happy, loving, energetic child and was blessed with a smile that had the ability to win the hearts of all he met. He enjoyed attending church and playing his little guitar as the choir sang. He also enjoyed playing video games, T-ball and bicycling. Kyle also enjoyed spending time with his parents, grandparents and extended family. Kyle and his family were blessed with a spectacular trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla., courtesy of the Make-A- Wish Foundation, in February. It was there he enjoyed greeting and taking pictures with the Disney characters. Schneider of Milford died of natural causes Sunday, March 30, 2003, in her daughter's home in Georgetown. She was 91. Mrs. Schneider was born Dec. 11, 1911, in Yoder, Kan., daughter of the late Samuel S. and Mary Yoder Miller. She was a homemaker. For many years, she was a foster parent. She loved to garden, knit and crochet, making many baby outfits. Mrs. Schneider loved the Lord and was a member of Tressler Mennonite Church in Greenwood. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J., in 1979; three brothers; three sisters; and a great-grandson. He was 63. Mr. Sharp is the son of the late Russell and Flora Belle Bartley Sharp. He was an U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Sharp was a self-employed painter. He enjoyed his family, camping and riding his bike. Mr. Sharp was a member of the American Cancer Society and the Laryngectomy Club.
