Died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2002, at age 82, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital, Milford. She was a salesperson most of her life. Survived by her husband of 61 years, Joseph Walter Abbott. Burial was in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear. --------------------------------------------------------------- * Booker, Catherine E. –– Milford. Died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002, at age 82, in her home. She was an assistant bookkeeper for Dover Gas, retiring after more than 20 years of service. Locally survived by a brother-in-law, Kenneth Booker, and a sister-in-law, Virginia Garrett, both of Dover. Burial was in Barratt’s Chapel Cemetery, Frederica. --------------------------------------------------------------- * Gillespie, Pauline S. –– Townsend, formerly of Delaware City. Died Friday, Nov. 22, 2002, at age 78, in her home. Locally survived by a son, Gary D. Gillespie of Kenton. Burial was in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Port Penn. --------------------------------------------------------------- * Griffith, Joseph W. ‘Uncle Joe’ –– Milford. Died Monday, Nov. 18, at age 43, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital, Milford. He was a manager for the chain of Super Soda Centers for eight years before becoming disabled in 1985. He also worked as a secretary for his wife’s business, Hair Designer’s Inc. in Milford. Survived by his wife of 24 years, Carol L. Griffith. Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milford. --------------------------------------------------------------- * Lambdin, Dorothy ‘Ann’ –– Clayton. Died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002, at age 54, in her home. She was a homemaker. Survived by her husband, Lester J. “Butch” Lambdin Jr. Locally survived by a daughter, Penny LeVan of Felton; a stepson, Jerry Lambdin of Dover; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Debbie Pinder of Dover. --------------------------------------------------------------- * Nichols, Anna E. –– Seaford. Died Monday, Nov. 18, 2002, at age 71, in Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, Md. He worked as an instrument mechanic and retired from E.I. DuPont in 1980 after 31 years of service. Survived by his companion of 25 years, Dorothy “Dot” Young of Delmar. Locally survived by a son, David Young of Dover. Died after a long illness Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2002, at age 73. He was a pressman for the News Journal, retiring in 1989. Locally survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Judith and William K. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was assistant manager for the J.C. Penney store, Milford, for many years, before retiring in 1973.
