Funeral Services for Sidney L. Stokes 60, who died Sunday Febraury 23, 1947 at 5:00 p.m. at his home in Colona, four miles south of McCrory were held at three o'clock Monday afternoon at the Fakes Cemetery. The Rev. Chester Parker, pastor of the McCrory Baptist Church conducted the services. Burial was in Fakes Cemetery. Mr. Stokes was born July 27, 1887 in White county Arkansas, a son of Walker and Mary (Willis) Stokes. He had lived near McCrory for many years. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Roy Stokes of the home and Chester Stokes of California, three daughters, Mrs. Frank Jones of Tupelo, Mrs. James Joslin of Diaz; and Mrs. J. H. Christmas of Augusta; a brother Will Stokes of Leachville, MO and a sister, Mrs. Ollie Martin of Searcy. this is my wife's grandfather. ************************************************************************
