He was a retired quality control manager for Spiegel Inc., a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion and St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Kunzelmann ROGERS – Philip V. Kunzelmann, 95, of Rogers died Jan. 29, 1998, at a local nursing facility. He was born May 9, 1902, at Steinfeld Ofr. Bayern, Germany, to Josef and Eva M. Schrauder Kunzelmann. He moved to the area in 1984 from New York City where he had been employed as secretary to Siemund Marine Inc. and as controller of Meier & Oelhaf. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Karolina Vollmer Kunzelmann, in 1974; six brothers; four sisters; Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger M. He was born July 14, 1920, in Otis, La., to Arthur L. and Edna Nichols Miller. He received a bachelor of science degree in agricultural economics from Louisiana State University. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving with Gen. George Patton’s 2nd Armored Division in North Africa and Sicily, then at the Armored Force School at Fort Knox, Ky. He joined Procter & Gamble Co. in 1946 in the foods division at Kansas City and retired after 33 years. He then joined the International Executive Service Corps, a non-profit organization that served businesses in developing countries. He served as country director in Turkey four years and as director of operations in Asia for two years. He retired and moved to Bella Vista in 1987 from Shawnee Mission, Kan. He was a member of the Bella Vista Community Church, Lions Club and American Legion and was a Stephen Ministry leader. He was preceded in death by one brother. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Rie Miller of the home; two sons, David Miller of Austin, Texas, and Donald Miller of Hazelwood, Mo.; two daughters, Anne Cardea of Kansas City, Mo., and Jennifer Miller Ingham of San Diego, Calif.; one brother, Marshall Miller of Bella Vista; three grandchildren; one step-grandchild. He owned and operated Ozark Downs Race Track, farmed in Oklahoma for many years and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Springdale. He became an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God in 1935, pastoring churches in Arkansas and Texas until the early 1950s. In 1953, he moved to Tupelo and served as pastor of East Heights Assembly of God for the next 15 years. He was instrumental in the formation of several new churches in North Mississippi. He was self-employed as a construction contractor and heavy equipment operator. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Meredith Duncan, in 1992, to whom he was married Sept. 24, 1933, and an infant son. He was born Aug. 16, 1914, in Bentonville to Frank Odell and Katherine Ford Mackey. He was president of the 1933 graduating class of Rogers Academy. He served in the Arkansas National Guard, 142nd Field Artillery, "B" Battery, serving under J. Wesley Sampier. He was also the founding member of the Board of Directors for the War Eagle Arts and Crafts Fair, and was a past member of the Rogers zoning commission. He was a Mason and served as a volunteer accountant for the Theatre for Young America in Kansas City. He worked as a real estate broker and agent throughout northern Arkansas and southern Missouri, and was a member of Central United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi Ruth Ivie Mackey, and a sister. He earned a doctorate from Michigan State University in 1961. He retired professor emeritus from Iowa State University after 30 years of service on the faculty. Long SPRINGDALE – Oakley Charles Long, 88, of Springdale died Feb. 5, 1998, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. He was born Aug. 26, 1909, in Washington, Kan., to Charles C. and Eva Decker Long. He was a graduate of the Gospel Bible Institute in Kansas City, received his BSE degree from John Brown University and a master's in elementary education administration from the University of Arkansas. He was ordained in the gospel ministry in 1934, serving 15 years as a rural missionary and as pastor of various Baptist Churches for 27 years. He taught 10 years in elementary schools and was principal of Lee Elementary in Springdale for 24 years. He served as president of the systemwide in-service training program for Springdale elementary teachers; as president of the Springdale Education Association and attended the national teachers convention in New York City. He retired from school work in 1975. He then served two years as president of the Washington County Retired Teachers Association and maintained membership in local, state and national organizations for teachers and retired teachers. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Springdale where he taught Sunday school classes, served on various committees and was first superintendent of Shiloh Christian School. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Ruth Enyart Long, on Nov. 10, 1996; three brothers; three sisters. He was born Dec. 11, 1911, at Lost Corner to Fate and Sula Moncrief Pruitt. He was a retired, self-employed carpenter, a former member of the Arizona Carpenters Union, a member of Brush Creek Baptist Church and a former deacon of Elmdale Baptist Church. Ramsay, 73, of Springdale died Feb. 6, 1998, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. He was born Feb. 20, 1924, in Conway to Charles Edgar and Robbie Maddox Ramsay. He moved to the area from Forrest City after serving 40 years as minister to Methodist churches in the Little Rock and North Arkansas Conferences. He was district superintendent of the Batesville, Jonesboro and Forrest City districts. Survivors include his wife, Melba A. She moved to the area in 1985 from Spavinaw, Okla., and relocated to Jay from Gravette in 1995. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clover Godard; one grandson; several brothers and sisters.
