HOEL -- John Hoel, 76 years of age died at his home, 1310 North Sixth Street, at 8 o'clock Wednesday evening following a lingering illness. Mr. Hoel was a retired farmer and a member of the G. A. R. Short funeral services will be held at the home this morning at 11 o'clock, after which the body will be shipped for burial to Ratcliff, Ark. where deceased lived before coming to Fort Smith. Interment will be made there in Kersey Cemetery. He is survived by his widow, three daughters, Mrs. James Cole; Mrs. Henry Lawrence and Mrs. Frank Baker; and a step-son Clarence Stephens. John Hoel, age 76, male, white, retired, residence: 1310 No. 6th, Fort Smith, AR. Cause of death: Cronic Dysentery Burial: Kersey Cemetery, Ratcliff, AR Funeral Paid By: Mr. Clarence Stephens $67.50 (Note: The town of Ratcliff is in Logan County; however, the Kersey Cemetery is north of Ratcliff and is actually in Franklin County. I checked the cemetery book for Kersey Cemetery and it did not list a John Hoel. This only means that he does not have a headstone or the headstone was not readable.)
