She was the widow of Ed L. Baker and a member of the Missionary Baptist Church. She is survived by two sons, Elbert Baker of Atkins and Emmett Baker of Alexandria LA., 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Funeral service was held Monday afternoon at the First Baptist Church in Atkins by Rev. Thomas Lindley of Russellville and the Rev Nodell Dennis of Atkins. Burial was in Atkins Cemetery by Lemley Funeral Service. Pallbearers were Arch Faucett, Herman Emmert, Joe Hegeman, Harold Sewell, John H. Tyson, and Leonard Shackleford. McLaren farms for 34 years, died at his home here Monday following an extended illness. Mr. Baker is survived by his wife, Sarah Parrish Baker; two sons, Elbert and Emmett Baker; and one daughter, Mrs. Euel Childers, all of Atkins. Among other survivors are three half brothers, John Baker of near Atkins, Harvey Baker of Carden Bottoms, and Steve Baker of Oklahoma. Funeral services were conducted at the Baptist church in Atkins Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 by Rev. J.H. O'Neal assisted by Rev. John Baker. Burial was in the Atkins City cemetery with Lemley brothers, undertakers, in charge. He was a native of Economy and a retired farmer. Survivors include his wife Urcie; two daughters, Judith Ann of the home and Mrs. Carl Worsham of Kansas City, MO. A sister Mrs. Mattie Harris of England and one grandchild. The funeral service was held Thursday afternoon at the Assembly of God church in Atkins with Rev Earl Baker and Rev O.J. Walls of Van Buren officiating. Burial was at Atkins cemetery by Shinn and Sons Funeral Service of Russellville. Pallbearers were Burl Lafarlette, Reece Webb, Homer Sorrels, Arlie Sorrells, J.D. Young, Sr., one of the oldest and best known citizens of Pope County, died yesterday at his home near Dover after a short illness. Arrangements for the funeral have not been made, but he will be buried at Dover, probably not until Saturday or Sunday, in order that his children from a distance may be present. Mr. Young was 75 years old and was a native of Canada, though he had lived in the state since he was 19 years old and in Pope County for some 30 years. He was the manager of S. E. Young & Company lumber mills and was successfull mill and businessman. His wife, eight children, eight brothers, three sisters and a large number of grandchildren survive him. The children are: W. L. Young and Miss Mary Young of Kansas City, G. W. Young and Mesdames Annie Holt and Ella Corbett of the State of Washington, Andy W. Young of El Paso, Texas, Perry S. Young of Dover and Robert T. Young of Russellville. The brothers and sisters all live in Wisconsin. Mr. Young was a member of the M. E. Church, South and was a refined Christian gentleman who was held in the highest esteem by all. We join many friends in extending sympathy to the bereaved." Young, 97, of 5906 Grand, died early today. Mrs. Young was a member of the Second Presbyterian church. She was a member of the Women's City club and of the Kansas City chapter of DAR. She leaves a son, Eugene L. Young, 6011 Main. Funeral services will be at 11 o'clock Saturday at the Newcomer's chapel. Burial will be in the Mt. Moriah cemetery. The family requests no flowers and suggests contributions to the memorial fund at the Second Presbyterian church or the School of the Ozarks at Point Lookout, MO.
