Shatwell, 83, of Vendor Talmadge D. Shatwell, 83, of Vendor, died Saturday, Oct. 7 (2000) at his home. He was born Oct. 14, 1916 at Limestone, a son of John C. and Martha Eveline (Martin) Shatwell. He was a factory worker, a World War II veteran, a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, a Pentecostal and attended church at Piercetown Holiness Church. He had lived most of his life in Newton County. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ethel Shatwell on Oct. 23, 1977; four brothers, Orville, Charles, Denver and Elver Shatwell and two sisters, Virgie Robinson and Willie May Davis. Survivors include three sons, Billy Wayne Shatwell of Mt. Judea, Dennis Ray Shatwell of Vendor and Gary Len Shatwell of Bellefonte; a sister, Obie Holt of Jasper; four grandchildren, Billy Shatwell, Jr., Patricia Royce, Melinda Evans and Timothy Shatwell; six great-grandchildren and other family and friends. Services will be Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 2 p.m. at the Piercetown Holiness Church with Ron Hubbard officiating. Burial will be in the Smith Cemetery under the direction of Coffman Funeral Home of Jasper. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Coffman's in Jasper. Pallbearers will be Eddie Robinson, Jerral Davis, Jack Martin, George Shatwell, Justin Flud and Farrell Shatwell. Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandchildren and hospice.
