KORNEGAY Clarendon -- John W. Kornegay, 93, of Clarendon, died Sunday, Dec., 25. He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church of Clarendon. He was a retired county and state politician and businessman. He was elected to the Monroe County Treasurer's Office in 1926 after which he served as the circuit clerk, county and probate clerk, and as county judge for eight years prior to retiring in 1947. He served two terms as state representative in the Arkansas State Legislature, elected in 1952 and 1954. He was later the owner of the Arkansas Culvert and Supply Company until his retirement in 1974. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Maxine Luebke and a son, Elbert Kornegay. He is survived by his wife, Bealey, of Clarendon and a son, John Kornegay, Jr., of El Dorado; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. ********************************************************************************
