She was 89. Services will be held Saturday in Blytheville, with visitation beginning at noon at Cobb Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 1:30PM in Elmwood Cemetery. The Rev. Thad Grinstead will officiate. Mrs. Grigsby was a Blytheville native, growing up in the Lone Oak community. She was a teacher of the first class at the Loan Oak School, and at the 1996 reunion was honored as one of only four original teachers still living. She was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church, belonging to the Women of the Church and a circle group. She was an avid duplicate bridge player and a Life Master. Mrs. Grigsby was a legal secretary for over 50 years, working at many of Blytheville's most respected firms. "My mother's work ethic and love of her occupation inspired me to pursue my law degree", said her daughter, Susan Pinkston, a practicing lawyer in Jackson. Mrs. Grigsby was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Ellis Grigsby. She leaves her only cild, Susan Pinkston, her only grandson, Christopher Ellis Pinkston, and a son-in-law, William C. Pinkston, all of Ridgeland, MS. Her sisters, Lillian Huey of Broken Arrow, OK, Mary Frances Coker of Olive Branch, MS, and Ila McMullin of Blytheville, and four nephews and one niece and several grand nephews and nieces. ------------------------------------ HUDSON, Jessie Mrs. Jessie Hudson, 83, the wife of E.G. Hudson, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 1997 at Blytheville Nursing Center, Born in Shannon, MS, she had been a Blytheville resident since 1973. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints. Mrs. Hudson leaves two brothers, James McKinley "Ken" Turner of Gresham, Oregon and Mitchell "Doc" Turner of Christmas, Florida. Funeral services will be conducted at 10;30 Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Bishop Tommie Kifer will officiate, and burial will follow in Sandy Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30am until service time at the church. Cobb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. ------------------------------------ LLOYD, Thelma Mattie Mrs. Thelma Mattie Lloyd, 92, of Leachville died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 1997 at Lane Nursing Home in Monette. She ws the widow of Eddie Lloyd and had been a Leachville resident for 67 years. Mrs. Lloyd was a member of the First Baptist Church and a retired nurse at the former Rodman Hospital in Leachville. She was born in Kenton, TN, the daughter of Phillip and Callie Dozier. Mrs. Lloyd leaves one son, Eddie Lloyd, Jr of Jonesboro; three daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Bailey of Byron, MI, Mrs. Shirley Grisham of Black Oak, and Mrs. Carolyn Moffatt of Memphis; one sister, Mrs. Beatrice Hannings of Memphis; eleven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted at 3pm Saturday in the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville. The Rev. Jerry Kausler will officiate, and burial will follow in Leachville Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6-8:30pm, today at the funeral home. ------------------------------------ MAYNARD, Pascal Douglas Jr. Mr. Pascal Douglas Maynard Jr, 64 of Leachville died Wednesday, 10-22-1997 at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was born Aug. 10, 1933 in Leachville, the son of Pascal and Katie Lee Maynard. Mr. Maynard ws a former mayor of Leachville. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Julia Maynard, and a son, Douglas Maynard, II. Mr. Maynard leaves his wife, Mrs. Pat Hetler Maynard of the home; one son, Gary Don Maynard of Conway; one daughter, Mrs. Julia Brown of Monette; one step-son, Tim Walker of Leachville; two step daughters, Candy Thompson of Leachville and Lora Moore of Monette. Also, one brother, Robert Maynard of Lake of the Ozarks, MO; two sisters, Melba June Hogland of Lake of the Ozarks and Barbara Ann Jolliff of Little Rock; and four grandchildren, five step grandchildren and one gr-grandson. Funeral services will be conducted at 11am Saturday in the Howard Funeral Chapel in Leachville. The Rev. Jerry Kausler will officiate, and burial will follow in the Leachville Cemetery.
