BOYD ************** Cordie Davenport Boyd, aged 87, of Jacksonville, died Sun., Oct. 8, 1995. She was the widow of Hoyt Boyd. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and a retired employee of Redmond Motors. Survivors include four daughters, Joyce Blucker, Pat Hall and Sandra Young, all of Jacksonville and Dean Parnell of benton; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. ETTA MAE COLCLASURE ******************* Etta Mae Raper Colclasure, aged 96, of Lonoke died Thurs., Oct. 5, 1995. She was the widow of Earl colclasure Sr. She was a licensed midwife and a Baptist. Survivors include two sons, Earl Colclasure Jr. of Sherwood and Neal Colclasure of Lonoke; a sister, Scott Lackie of Rison; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. THOMAS L.DAVIDSON ***************** Thomas Louis Davidson, aged 62, of Lonoke died Sat., Oct. 7, 1995. He was a carpenter and a Methodist. She was a hairdresser and a Baptist. FULMER ***************** William Howard Fulmer, aged 69, of Beebe died Sun., Oct. 8, 1995. He was a retired auto mechanic, WW II veteran and lifetime member of Post 7769 VFW. Survivors include his wife, Martha Abshure Fulmer, 10 children, Billie Jo Curtis, Robert Louis Fulmer, Mike Wallace, of Beebe, Danny Wallace of Cabot, James T. He was the founder of S & J Hunting Club and was a Baptist. Mathis Jr., aged 74, of Jacksonville died Sat., Oct. 7, 1995, He was retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel. He was a member of the Park Hill Lion’s Club, Park Hill Christian Church and the Society for Preservation and Encouagement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America. Survivors included his wife, Elizabeth Mathis; children, Rick Mathis of Tenn., Linda Powell of Cabot, Diane Hershelman of Fayetteville; a sister, Elizabeth Green of Georgia; four grandchildren. SANDERS ********************* Jacqueline Colleen Sanders, aged 46, of Jacksonville died Tues., Oct. 3, 1995. WILBUR TALLEY ************* Wilbur “Bill” Talley, aged 75, of North Little Rock died Wed., Oct. 4. He was a retired carpenter and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Gullick Talley of North Little Rock; a son, Jim Howard of Murfreesboro; a daughter, Jeanie Ruth Stane of Cabot; two brothers, Marion Talley of North little Rock and Edward Talley of Cabot; two sisters, Lela Allison of Lonoke and Allene Spires of Cabot; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral was Sat., Oct. 7, by the Rev. Jerry Highfill, at Calvary Baptist Church. Burial was in Sylvania Cemetery by Roller-Owens Funeral Home. WILLIAM F. WOODS **************** William Franklin Woods, aged 66, of Hazen died Tues., Oct. 10, 1995 at St. Vincent’s Infirmary in Little Rock. He was the adopted son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Leslie Woods and a Methodist. He was the owner and publisher of the Grand Prairie Herald and the DeValls Bluff Times, and former publisher of the Twin City Tribune and the Marvell Messsenger. in addition, he served as the postmaster of the Hazen Post Office from 1969 to 1989, and was a veteran of the Korean conflict where he served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army. He was a graduate of Marianna High School wehre he edited the high school newspaper and worked part time for the Marianna Coourier-Index. He attended Magnolia A&M College, was assistant editor of the college newspaper. The Bray, and worked part time at the Magnolia Printing Company. Woods also had experience as a printer and linotype operator with the Evening Free Lance in Hollister, Calif., and with the Palmer newspapers in El Dorado and Hot Springs. He purchased the Grand Prairie Herald from Clyde E. Bowman of Hazen in 1953 and founded the DeValls Bluff Times. The list of his contributions and services to his profession, his family, his country and his church is extensive. Woods was a member of the board of directors of the arkansas Press Assoc. for 10 yrs., serving as president of the APA in 1976. He was recognized by that organization in Feb. 1995 for 50 yrs. of service to the newspaper industry. He was also a member of the National Newspaper Assoc. Woods was a member of the Prairie County Democratic Central Committee, president-elect of the board of directors of the Lonoke Exceptional School, and past chairman of the Administrative Council of the First United Methodist Church of Hazen where he had also served as a Sun. School teacher. With Leila Clyde Bowman, he co-edited and published a history book of Hazen in 1991. He was a 32nd degree Mason. He is survived by his wife, Betty Lindley Woods; three daughters, Roxanne Woods Bradow of Hazen, Patti Lee Calk-Rye and Suzette Parker, both of Lonoke; one brother, Joe Sharp of Marianna; and six grandchildren, J. J. and Drew Parker of Lonoke, and Chris and Nathaniel Bradow of Hazen. Funeral services were held Wed., Oct. 11, at the Firs tUnited Methodist Church of Hazen with the Rev. Daniel Kirkpatrick of Little Rock and the Rev. Jerry Collins, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in Hazen cemetry by Westbrook Funeral Home of Hazen. Pallbearers were Marvin Reid, Jerry Carter and Sam Weems, all of Hazen; Jay Jackson of Clinton, Cone Magie of Cabot and Bill Rutherford of Austin. Honorary pallbearers were M.V. Rhodes, Barrett Rogers, Deacon Davis, Lamar Roper and other members of the Hazen Masonic Lodge. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Hazen. GRACE P. YOUNG ************** Grace P. Young, aged 97, of Lonoke died Sat., Oct. 7, 1995. She was the widow of Charles O. Young. Survivors include nine grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Funeral was Mon., Oct. 9, 1995, at Lonoke First United Pentecostal Church. Burial was in Lonoke Cemetery by Boyd Funeral Home of Lonoke. JOSEPH E. ZEGLER with picture **************** Former columnist, personnel consultant Joseph E. Zegler Joseph Elmer Zegler, aged 71, of Cabot died Fri., Oct. 6, 1995. He had written a weekly column, titled “It Makes Cents,” for the Cabot STar-Herald, Lonoke Democrat, and Jacksonville Patriot newspapers since early 1992. His final column was printed May 24, 1995, when he stopped writing because of health reasons. Zegler was born Jan. 9, 1924, at Freeburg, Ill. He married Ethelena “Kiki” Wahl Jan. 20, 1972, in Little Rock. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II and was recalled by the U.S Air Force for the Korean conflict and for the war in Vietnam. He retired from the Air Force in 1967. His career include postition as personnel director for First National Bank, senior vice president for Union National Bank, and the first personnel chairman for the Ark. Bankers Committee. He was founder of the Inner City Bank Personnel Conference and was appointed by then-Governor Bill Clinton to the Personnel Committee. He also taught in American Institute of Banking course for several years. He was a member of the Little Rock Air Force Basse Community Council, chairman of the first Advisory Board of the Bank of Cabot, and a member of the board of directors of Rolling Hills Country Club. He owned his own business, Zegler Personnel Consulting Agency for 10 years. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Lambert. He is survived by his wife, Ethelena (Kiki) Zegler of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Grady Owen of Arlington, TX.; a son-in-law, Perk Lambert of Searcy; a sister, Clair Taylor of Sun City, Calif.; and six grandsons, Michael, Wes, Dustin, Ben, Zech and Alex. Funeral service was Sunday at Moore’s Cabot Funeral Home Chapel. Providing portions of the eulogy were Bill Morris, Doug Wilkinson, Bill Gwatney, Joe Melton and Shelly Moran. Burial was at Mt. Carmel Cemetery with military honors. Pallbearers were Andy Owens, Harrell Caviness, Steve Owens, Chris Gee, Wayne Dierks and Bill Meadows. ***********************************************************************************
