A native of Lincoln County, he was born January 6, 1914, a son of the late John and Rachel Smith Blasengame. He worked as a welder for Cargo Carriers and Ben Pearson. He was a member of the Calvary Assembly of God Church at Star City. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen Cook Blasengame, whom he married March 12, 1935; two sons, Don Blasengame and Wayne Blasengame, both of Pine Bluff; a daughter, Elizabeth Shillings of Star City; a brother, Sim Owens of Star City; two sisters, Mary Young and Ruth McEntire, both of Star City; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m. today at Hale-South Funeral Home at Pine Bluff with Dwayne Roper officiating. She was born in Lincoln County, a daughter of the late John and Adeline Owen Smith of Star City. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church. Surviving are five sons, Sim Owen, and Jack Owen, of Wright, Wade Blasengame of Star City, and J. D. Blasengame of Monroe, Louisana; four daughters, Mrs. Roberta Drake, Mrs. Mary Young and Mrs Ruth McEntire, all of Star City, and Mrs. Nezzie Meroney of Granite City, Illinois; 37 grandchildren; 79 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the first Assembly of God Church by Reverend W. F. Hopkins and Reverend J. E. White. Burial will be in Drake Cemetery at Star City by Buie Funeral Home. He was a disabled American veteran, having served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mildred Cook Blasengame; a son, Ronnie Blasengame of Star City; a daughter, Mrs. Barbara Colbert of Houston; three stepsons, James Stover of Millersville, Maryland, and Dewayne Hunsaker and Oscar Hunsaker of Star City; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Ardath Gill of Sheridan, Mrs. Sallie Jean McWhorter and Mrs. Martha Russworm of Star City, and Mrs. Brenda Burnett of Malvern; a brother, Gene Blasengame of Alton, Illinois; four sisters, Mrs. Edith Hunter of Atlanta, and Mrs. Mildred Bently and Dorothy Blasengame of Star CIty, and Mrs. Norma Jean Studdard of Pine Bluff; and 17 grandchildren. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Griffin Funeral Home of Star City. Note: He was buried in Drake Cemetery, Star City. ORA BLASENGAME Funeral services were held this afternoon at 3 o'clock from Hickory Grove Baptist Church, for Mrs. Ora Agnes Blasengame,38, of Star City, who died at 5 o'clock Friday afternoon at her home, following a two day illness. Services were conducted by the Rev. C. W. Barnes of Pine Bluff. Mrs. Blasengame, a daughter of the late James and Mollie Raley, pioneer settlers of Lincoln County, was born September 6, 1903. She was married to Obie C. Blasengame in Star City on December 20, 1918. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church. Mrs. Blasengame is survived by her husband, Obie Blasengame; two daughters, Mrs. Jay Pickens and Miss Evelyn Blasengame of Star City; three sons, Veo, Bobby and Obie Blasengame, Jr. of Star City; one grandchild, Barbara Pickins; her mother, Mrs. Mollie Raley; five sisters, Mrs. Tebo Cogbill, Mrs. Mack Morgan, Mrs. Ford Sawyers and Mrs, W. E. Davis of Star City and Mrs Dollie Marshall of Rosedale, Texas; and three brothers, G. E. Raley of Pine Bluff, and Ed and Charley Raley of Star City. Burial was in Hickory Grove Cemetery in charge of Holderness-South Funeral home in Star City. Pallbearers were; Wert Drake, Elzie Owen, W. A. BLASENGAME LINCOLN COUNTY NATIVE Obie C. Blasengame, 60, of Star City, died at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Little Rock yesterday morning. A native of Lincoln County, Mr. Blasengame was born February 19, 1894, to the late William and Elizabeth Franklin Blasengame. He received his education in Lincoln County Schools. He married the former Freddie Mae McCool of Monticello in 1944. Mr. Blasengame had served with the Arsenal Fire Department for 12 years. He was a veteran of World War I. He was a Baptist. Survivors include his widow; five sons, Sgt. Veo Blasengame of Fort Hood, Sgt. James B. Blasengame of Topeka, Kans., Obie Blasengame, Jr. of Pine Bluff, Marshall Blasengame and Jimmie D. Blasengame of Star City; four daughters, Mrs. Duffea Waters of Pine Bluff, and Mrs. Jay Pickins, Katherine Blasengame, all of Star City; one sister, Mrs. Arthur Elkins of Pine Bluff; two brothers, Ivory and Oather Blasengame of Star City; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services this afternoon at 2 p.m. at Pine Hill Baptist Church with burial in the Hickory Grove Cemetery. The Rev. Roy Moore and the Rev. Leroy King officiated. Active pallbearers were G. W. Freeman, W. E. Dennis, Dennis Scifres, Bill Anderson, J. G. Bearden, and John Johnson. Note: Born February 19, 1894 and died September 12, 1954, and married 12-20-1919 to Ora Agnes Raley, and Freddie McCool in 1944. -------- THOMAS KELLEY Thomas Jefferson Kelley, 67, of Route 6, died Tuesday at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. A native of Malvern, he was a son of the late Reverend J. T. and Kumpe Kelley. He served in the Army during World War II and was a retired sheet metal worker for Ben Pearson Manufacturing Company. He was a member of Hardin Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lila Cook Kelley; a brother, James L. Kelley of Faith; four sisters, Mrs. Pearl Wilkerson, Mrs. Elizabeth Phillips and Mrs. Mary Lou Taylor, all of Pine Bluff, and Mrs Fay Nell Farenelli of McAllen, Texas. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at Hale-South Funeral Home by Reverend David Chappell. Burial will be in Drake Cemetery at Star City. Pallbearers will be nephews. The family will be at the home on Route 6. ---------- W. E. Blasengame Wilbur Gene Blasengame, 45, of Gould, died Monday at the Veterans Administration Hospital at Little Rock. He had served for about four months as the Chief of Police for Gould. He had been a correctional officer at Cummins State Prison Farm for about five years and had been a lieutenant when he left. He attended Lincoln County Schools. He was a son of Mrs. Ozell Petty Blasengame Dorsett of Pine Bluff and the late Oather Blasengame. He had served in the Air Force for six years during the Korean War. He was a member of the Lone Grove Missionary Baptist Church near Star City. Other survivors include his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Harper Blasengame; four sons, Michael G. Blasengame of McGehee and Glen Blasengame, Gary Blasengame, and Clifton Blasengame of Gould; his stepfather, James Dorsett of Pine Bluff; and his grandmother, Mrs. Vida Petty of Pine Bluff. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Lone Grove Baptist Church by Reverend Ray Meador. Burial with Military Honors will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery near Star City by Griffin Funeral Home of Star City. Pallbeareres will be Paul Hood, Leon Newman, Loyd Anders, Clarence Moran, Junior Newman and J. P. Graham. ------------- IVORY BLASENGAME Ivory Franklin Blasengame, 74, of Star City, died in a Little Rock hospital, Friday. He was a retired farmer and timberman. Surviving are two sons, Elmer Blasengame of Star City and James Eugene of Illinois; four daughters, Mrs. V.T. Hunter of Georgia, Mrs. Mildred Bentley and Mrs. Robert Studdard, both of Pine Bluff and Dorothy Blasengame of Star City; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. today at the Calvary Assembly of God Church. Burial was in Leek Cemetery, by Buie Funeral Home. Published Pine Bluff Commercial, 1-27-1959 MRS. E. BLASENGAME Mrs. Etta Blasengame, 83, died today at 10:30 a.m., at the home of her daughter, Mrs. M. L. Harrison of 3300 West 13th . A native of Mississippi, Mrs. Blasengame moved to Pine Bluff 15 years ago. Since then she has made her home with Mrs. Harrison. Mrs. Blasengame was married to the late Oscar Blasengame in 1899 in Star City. She was a Baptist. Survivors also include one sister, Mrs. Fannie Tucker of Pine Bluff; and 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements will be announced by South Funeral Home. Note: Burial in Heflin Cemetery, Star City, Arkansas. She was Sallie Etta Pickens.
