Humphries, 79-year-old resident of Neely Street, died Tuesday in a Little Rock hospital. Born in Helena, he was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church and a merchant, and had spent most of his life in Batesville. He is survived by a son, Kenneth; two daughters, Mrs. Irene Cook of Melbourne and Mrs. Velma Pearson; two half-brothers, Tenny Ellis Winkle of Mount Pleasant and George Winkle of Texas; and eight grandchildren. Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2:00 at Calvery Baptist Church, with the Rev. Vernon Bellue officiating. Burial was in Barren Fork cemetery (Mount Pleasant) by Crouch Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Stanley Guthrie, Olen Winkle, Hassell Marshall, Billy Goodin, Eldon Hager, Floyd Massey, Johnny Thompson, and George Williams. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. L.T. Evans, Dr. Walter O'Neal, Dr. Nixon, Dr. Sheffield, the staff of the Baptist Hospital in Little Rock and business associates of the deceased. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Izard County Current, Izard County, AR, March 20, 1986 Rosa Harris, 100, of Melbourne, died March 5, 1986, at the Pioneer Nursing Home. Rosa was a homemaker, the oldest member of the First Baptist Church, a member of the Mill Creek EHC, and a Charter member of Eastern Star. She had been a resident of Izard County all of her life. Survivors include: 2 daughters; Mrs. Rhea Walker and Mrs. Laverne Robertson, both of Melbourne; 1 siser, Mrs. Hulda Marchant of Dallas, Texas, 2 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grand daugher. Services were held March 7, at Howard Chapel officiate by Don Sanders. Pallbearers were: Eudell Smith, Lon Smith, John Copeland, Charles Harris, Jay Harris, and Shannon Womack. Burial was at Melbourne Cemetery. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Melbourne Times, Melbourne, AR, June ?, 1989 Willie Irene Humphries Cook, age 72, of Wideman, died Friday, June 2, 1989, at the Calico Rock Medical Center. She was a homemaker, a retired L.P.N. and a Baptist in faith. She is survived by her husband, Woodrow Walter Cook of the home; one son, James W. Cook of Calico Rock; two daughters, Linda Jeffery of Melbourne, and Sylvia Engles of Calico Rock; one sister, Velma Pearson of Houston, Texas, seven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 5, 1989, at the Calico Rock Baptist Church with the Reverends Ralph Allmon, Thomas Bradley, Scott Johnson, and Ronnie McAllister officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Cemetery at Calico Rock with arrangements by Crouch Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Brandon Cook, Derrick Cook, Clifton Cook, Gerald Tosh, Odell Shaw, and Sammy Carolan. Servings as Honorary pallbearers were Roland King, Roe Cantrell, O.D. King, Walter Boyd, Alton Rush, and Jay Harris.
