All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ******************************************************************************** Here are obituaries for my grandfather, Julius Younger Johnson, Jr. ARKANSAS GAZETTE - APRIL 11, 1915 HOPE, APRIL 10--A message was received tonight that Younger Johnson died suddenly at his home in Idabel, Okla., this afternoon (Saturday, April 10, 1915 at 5:30 pm) from a stroke of paralysis. He was a former resident of Hope. He is survived by his wife, Aline, a daughter of Thomas James Boyett, a business man of this city, and three children. The body will arrive here tomorrow (Sunday). _______________ Copied fom Newspaper at time of his death in Idabel, Ok.; Aline and Younger lived in Idabel for a number of years, living there when Younger died. Younger was a member of the Idabel Hardware Co. and President of the Town Board of Trustees. He has always been a progressive spirit in every public interprise of Idabel and had many strong and influential friends. Aline and the children moved to Hope, Arkansas. ______________ OBITUARY - IDABEL, OKLAHOMA - DEMOCRAT-RECORD J. Y. JOHNSON DEAD After a brief illness, lasting but a few days, Julius Younger Johnson, Jr., one of the most prominent business men, as well as one of the most popular, passed away Saturday afternoon at his home in this city. Mr. Johnson has been connected with the Idabel Hardware Co., for several years, was an ardent worker in the interest of his adopted city, and at the time of his death was the President of the Board of Town Trustees. In the loss of Younger Johnson, Idabel has received a severe blow, which will be felt for some time and all mourn his loss. The remains, accompanied by relatives and a number of friends of the deceased, were taken to Hope, Ark., Sunday and the interment took place Monday morning. May God in His infinite wisdom endow the sorrowing wife and children with the strength of His protection in this sad hour of adversity, that they may know the Lord's strength is sufficent to bear any burden. To his brothers and other relatives we extend our sincere sympathy, and may they find consolation in the knowledge that God fulfills all His promises and that not even a sparrow fall without his knowledge. _______________________ PALL BEARERS AND CARRIAGE LIST Porterfield and Cornelius, Funeral Directors - HOPE, ARKANSAS The funeral of Younger Johnson was at the residence of Thomas James Boyett (Aline's parents) on April 12, 1915 at 10:30 am. The bearers were William Cautley, George Green, E. M. Fulmer, Newt Gore (from Idabel), C. C. Spraggins, E. I. Greening, and Dorsey McRae. The first carriage carried the Family and second carriage carried 7 members of the Johnson family. Younger died April 10, 1915 at 5:30 pm of paralasis.
