A native of Langley, she had resided in Murfreesboro for 19 years before moving to North Little Rock and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Murfreesboro and the Levy Baptist Church in North Little Rock. Survivors include her husband, Alva E. Miller of North Little Rock; one son, Harold Miller of North Little Rock; one daughter, Wanda Faye Wash of Elko, Nevada; four brothers, Clarence Risner of Longview, Washington, and Idus Risner, Junior Risner and Hobert Risner, all of Murfreesboro; three sisters, Iva May Merchant of Texarkana, Betty Jane Scroggin of Murfreesboro and Lorene McClure of Onalaska, Wisconsin, five granchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Born June 5, 1934, in Hot Spring county to Albert Hudie Porterfield and Cordelia Nix Porterfield, he was a Missionary Baptist. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Lachowsky Porterfield of Hot Springs, one son, Donavan Porterfield of Malvern; two daughters, Jackie Ann Stephens and Susan Porterfield, both of Hot Springs; one brother, Tony R. Porterfield of Donaldson; four sisters, Ruby Draper and Dorothy Kyle, both of Malvern, Jodie Kratz of Friendship and Ruth Kifer of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; and four grandchildren. CHARLES McKENZIE Charles Edward McKenzie, 78, of Hot Springs, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 1992, in a local hospital. He was a native of Ola and retired civil engineer from Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. after 39 ½ years. He was a World War II Army Veteran, Bronze Star recipient, Sgt. 9th Infantry, 9th Division Italy, Sicily and North Africa Division. Survivors include his wife, Laura Combs McKenzie of Hot Springs; two daughters, Dr. Sharron Horn of Portage, Wisconsin and Laura Jeanne McKenzie of North Little Rock; one son-in-law, Lt. Cmdr. CHAR-LYNN METCALF Char-Lynn Renee Metcalf, three months, of Malvern, died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 1992, in a Hot Spring County hospital. She was born Nov. 15, in Malvern to Howard Metcalf and Lisa Metcalf. Survivors include her parents, Howard Gene and Lisa Dyane Certain Metcalf of Malvern, two brothers, Joshua Murphy and Justin Murphy, both of Malvern; grandparents, Wallace Metcalf and Hattie Metcalf, both of Poyen, and Joe Certain and Nita Certain of Fayetteville. MILLER FORT SMITH -- Donald D. Miller, 55, of Fort Smith, died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 1992, in a local hospital. He was area conservationist for the Department of Agriculture, a veteran of the Korean and Desert Storm wars and a master sergeant in the Air Force. He was a Mason and a Protestant. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Miller of Fort Smith; two sons, Lynn Miller and Jack Miller, both of Fort Smith; two daughters, Mitzie Daniels of Jonesboro and Melody Roberts of Fort Smith; his parents, Taylor and Willie Miller of Cleveland; one brother, Bill Miller of Cleveland; one sister, Barbara Flowers of Morrilton; and a grandchild. Russell and Glynn Wilder, all of Shreveport, Louisiana; one brother, Charles Woodul of Redlands, California; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
