BIRD *********** Leo F. Bird, 77, of Hot Springs, died Mon., Oct. 12, 1992, in Hot Springs. He was a medical technician and a Baptist. He was preceded in death by a son, Terry Leo Bird. Survivors include his wife, Flora Dean Bird of Hot Springs; one daughter, Deborah Lynne Kelley of Atlanta; two brothers, John D. Bird of Atkins and Woodrow Bird of Conway; four sisters, Veta Phillips of Columbus, Georgia, Dorease Lipe of Taylor, Michigan, Myrtlene Trautman of Hot Springs, and Patricia Cowan of Reno, Nevada; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. CAMPBELL with picture **************** HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE--Ivan Palmer Campbell, 79, of Hot Springs Village, died Mon., Oct. 12, 1992, in a Hot Springs hospital. He mobilized with the Texas National Guard in 1940 and served as a commissioned officer in the Armed Forces in WW II. He was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Hot Springs Village serving as chairman of the building committee for the present structure. He also served two years on the standing committee of the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas and as senior warden and chancellor at St. Christopher;s Episcopal Church in Fort Worth, Texas. He was a founder and chairman of the board of the Guardian Title Companies of Texas, president of First Title Agency of Houston and a member of the law firm of Lattimore, Campbell, Wood and Meier in Fort Worth. He was a lifetime member of the Texas State Bar Assoc. and the American Bar Assoc. and a former member of the National Assoc. of Realtors and the National Home Builders Assoc. He graduated from Central Academy and College, McPherson, Kansas and earned LLB and Juris Doctor degrees from Baylor Univ. in Waco, Texas where he was a member of Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Hickman Campbell of Hot Springs Village; five daughters, Diane Archer of Houston, Katie Wortham of San Antonio, Texas, Shirley Williams of Fort Smith, Yvonne Ulrich of Wichita, Kansas, and Jeannette Baker of Charlottesville, West Virginia; two sons, Alan Douglas Campbell of Avon, Conneticut, and Phillip Campbell of Kansas City, Kansas; two brothers, Edwin T. He had been a resident of Hot Springs since 1989 and was director of Quality Control. He was a graduate of Fordyce High School, a member of AARP and a staff sergeant in the U.S. army during the Korean Conflict. He was born July 24, 1904, in Amity, the son of Joseph Pittman and Marion Alice Smith Cates. He was a lifelong resident of Clark County, a retired construction worker and the widower of Audrey Fair Cates. Survivors include two sons, Jimmie Cates and Johnny Cates, both of Little Rock; one daughter, Ann Kelly of Arkadelphia; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Smith and Viola Cagle Smith, and resided in mena most of his life. He was a member of the American Legion and a veteran of WW II. he was preceded in death by one brother, Harley Smith, ane one half-brother, Lloyd Tibbs. Survivors include his wife, Irene Smith of Mena; one son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Brenda Smith of Mena; one daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and W. T.
