He was a retired sawmill worker, a mason and a member of the Mount Joy Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Edith Davis of New Hope, Wanda June Davis and Bertha Sue Bowen, both of Kerman, California; three sisters, Myrtle Gutkowski of South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Iva Richburg of Sulpur, Oklahoma, and Doyce Butler of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; and eight grandchildren. She was born in Mayfield, Kentucky, and had been a resident of Hot Springs since 1923. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church. She is survived by two sons, Zachary Branch and Paul Branch, both of Hot Springs; one daughter, Mary Elizabeth McCully of Hot Springs; one brother, George Mason of Tulare, California; and six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Caruth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Butler officiating. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Anderson, Haskell McCully, Fred Wait, Carroll Pyron, Alan Story and Mike Branch. Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Foshee and members of the Emmanuel Baptist Church. BESSIE ELKINS CROSS ******************* MALVERN--Bessie Elkins Cross, 90, of Torrence, California, formerly of Malvern, died Mon., Nov. 9, 1981. She was a Baptist. Ford, 52, died Wed., Nov. 11, 1981, at his residence. He was born in Hot Springs and had resided here for most of his life. He was retired from the U.S. Army and was a member of the Methodist Church. Survivors include three sons, Lawrence Palmer Ford, Richard Franklin Ford and Rodney Van Ford; one daughter, Margo Lynn Ford; and his mother, Dolly I. Wells, all of Hot Springs. HARCROW ************** WARREN--Services for Reo Paschal Harcrow, 62, of Warren, who died Sun., Nov. 8, 1981, in a Bradley County Hospital, were held at 10:30 a.m. Tues., Nov. 10, 1981, at Frazer’s Chapel of the Chimes. The Rev. Wayman Mann and the Rev. Gene Elrod officiated. He was the son of Purcell and Annie Belle Wood Harcrow and was born in Dewitt on Mar. 13, 1919. He was a retired logger and a Baptist. He was a member of one of the oldest pioneer families in Hot Springs. The Housley family owned the first dry goods store in the area. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Housley of Hot Springs; two sons, Bob Housley of Dallas and John Housley of Santa Clara, California; one brother, Billy Housley of Hot Springs; one sister, Catherine Brenner and two grandsons. Jensen, 88, died Wed., Nov. 11, 1981, at a local hospital. He had recently moved to Hot Springs Village from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he had retired as a finish painter for the Harley Davidson Co. Survivors include a daughter, Virginia Willis Holloway of Hot Springs Village; and six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Burial will be under the direction of Caruth Funeral Home. HARRY A. TSCHUMI JR. ******************* Harry A. Tschumi Jr., 60, died Sun., Nov. 15, 1981, in a local hospital. He was born in Little Rock and had resided in Hot Springs for the past four years. He was a veteran of WW II, a member of the ASHRAE, the Ark. Pilots Assoc., the Fine Arts Center in Little Rock, and the Trinity Methodist Church in Little Rock. He was a nationally known pioneer in energy conservation research. He was engaged in the refrigeration, air conditioning and heating business for over 30 yrs. During that time was employed by 555 Inc., and operated the Harry Tschumi & Co. in Little Rock. For the last four yrs. he worked as an energy consultant. He received national publicity in the early 1960's for a unique heat pump program. He was listed in the "Who's Who in Business and Industry' in 1964-1965, was the author of "Do You Have Money to Burn," a study of increased thermal protection and energy conservation. He was one of 43 persons nominated for the 1975 "Construction Man of the Year: award by "Engineering News-Record" a construction magazine. He was a co-designer of the original "Super Thermal Home," a predecessor of the Energy-Saving Home featured in the "Arkansas Story." Survivors include his wife, Gerldine Tschumi of Hot Springs; a son, Pete Tschumi of Little Rock; a daughter, Linda Burnett of Little Rock; and his mother, Billie Tschumi of Hot Springs.
