He came to America in 1874, and soon after his arrival moved to Franklin county, Arkansas, where he married a Miss Belt. Three children were born to them, Mrs. W.H. Morris, of near Watalula; Mrs. Bolin, of Newton county; and John Caire, of near Mountain Top. He was well educated, and very industrious, honest, and kind hearted, looked strictly after his own business and let other peoples business severely alone. He was a devout member of the Catholic church, believed strong in the Catholic faith. He passed away happy, said he was ready and willing to go and meet his God. Uncle Joe, as he was called by many, was a self-reliant spirit, and a keen sense of justice, was patient, appreciative of kindness and friendship. He died at his home near Watalula, May 31, 1921, 10:30 p.m.
