She was born March 5, 1905, at Heavener, Okla., a daughter of the late John Wesley Yates and Helen Rebecca Ashcraft Yates. She worked with her husband on their farm near Back Gate for over 44 years until retirement. She was a homemaker and a charter member of the First Delta Church of God at Dumas. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Grady Simmons; her second husband, James Glenn Lambert, to whom she was married for 60 years; one son, James Ezelle Simmons; eight sisters; one brother; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren. Survivors include one son, James Glendon Lambert of Dumas; three daughters, Melba Dean James of Pine Bluff, Barbara Sue Riley of Dumas and Glenda Vonne Moring of Little Rock; 12 grandchildren; 12 great- grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at First Baptist Church at Dumas with the Rev. Leonard Ricketts and the Rev. Ross Woodbury officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Lake Cemetery by Griffin Funeral Home of Dumas. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice of charity.
