All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************************** Luther Edward Pasley April 26, 1985 The Jonesboro Sun Luther Edward Pasley November 18, 1922 - March 26, 1985 The state medical examiner's office has determined that the cause of Luther Edward Pasley's death was strangulation, but the ways under which the strangulation occurred are still being probed, Craighead County Sheriff's Department personnel said Thursday. Pasley's badley-decomposed body was found Sunday in the Mud Slough Ditch one mile from Childress, Lawman estimated that Pasley had been dead several weeks. Police said initial investigation determined tht Pasley was last seen alive March 26. Pasley had "what appeared to be a ligature" around his neck and a leather lace was missing from one of his boots, officials said. The investigation is proceeding as if Pasley's death were a homicide, officers have said. While State Medical Examiner Dr. Fabmy A. Malak has informed lawmen by telephone of the cause of death, his written report is not expected here until early next week. Officers, meanwhile, are still investigating. Pasley, 62, of Manila, was born in Manila. He lived in Michigan for several years before returning to Manila. Survivors include one brother, Henry Pasley of Manila; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Baswell of Monette and Mrs. Lula Rushing of Jackson Tennessee; four half brothers, Vernon Foster of Jamestown, Alto Foster of Coloma Michigian, James Foster and Joe Foster both of Manila; and one half-sister, Mrs Lois Lambert of Manila. Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. this afternoon in the Macy Cemetery near Monette, with Rev. Jeff Bolton officiating, Howard Funeral Service of Leachville is in charge.
