Agee, 82, of Mayflower died Thurs., Aug. 10. He was born Sept. 12, 1912, in Mayflower, a son of Wilson and Ola Burgess Agee. He was retired construction worker and member of Palarm Chapel Baptist Church where he was a deacon. Survivors include his wife, Dona M. Green Agee; one brother, Herbert R. Agee of Kansas City, Mo.; and one sister, Mrs. Lillie B. Clay of Conway. Funeral services were 1 p.m. Mon. at Palarm Chapel Cemetery in Mayflower, by the Rev. James Mackey. Burial was by Acklin Funeral Home of Conway. IRENE ARNHART ************* Mrs. Irene Bradley Arnhart, 77, of Clinton, widow of Oather Arnhart, died Tues., Aug. 8. She was born Jan. 22, 1918, in Clinton, a daughter of Gladys Gilliam Bradley of springfield and the late William Thomas Bradley. She was retired from Banquet Foods in Clinton and a Baptist. Other survivors incluse a son, Warren Arnhart of Conway; a daughter, Margaret Rhodes of Poteau, Okla,; a brother, Warren G. Bradley of Springfield; a sister, Lila Jean Williams of Springfield; and two grandchildren. Funeral services were Fri. at the First Baptist Church in Clinton. Burial was at Crabtree Cemetery near Clinton by Roller-McNutt Funeral Home of Clinton. PAUL GORDON *********** Paul DeWitt Gordon, 40, of San Francisco, Calif., formerly of Solgohachia, died Wed., Aug. 9. Survivors include parents, Mr. and Mrs. Othello Gordon of Solgohachia; one brother, John S. Gordon of Alvin, Texas; one sister, Susan Gordon of Conway, Ark.; one nephew, Scott Stanford Gordon of Alvin, Texas; one aunt, Lena Hotten of Plumerville; one uncle and aunt, Dr. and Mrs. F. DeWitt Stanford of Orlando, Fla., and several cousins. Paul graduated from Morrilton High School in 1972 and from Southwest State Univ. in Springfield, Mo., with a degree in education in 1976. He then received a degree in law from Rutgers Univ. School of Law in Camden, N.J., in 1979. He was a practicing attorney in Little Rock before moving to San Francisco, Calif., in 1985. Because of his love for books and reading, contributions may be made to the Conway County Library or to the music fund at the First United Methodist Church in Morrilton because of his love of music. ALVIN LAWRENCE ************** Alvin Lawrence, 81, of Morrilton died Fri., Aug. 11. He was a retired carpenter and a Baptist. Survivors include his wife, Mae Byrum Lawrence; one son, Gerald Lawrence of Morrilton; one daughter, Mary Sue Gibby of Morrilton; one brother, Edgar Lawrence of Long Beach, Calif.; one sister, Willie Hunter of Harrison; six grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Mon. at 2 p.m. at the Atkins First Assembly of God by the Rev. Jewell McKinney and the Rev. John Martin. Pallbearers were Ralph Ferguson, Ira Beavers, Ted Sweeden, J. B. Murdoch, Leonard Shackleford, and Johnny Tyson. ALBERT SHAW *********** Albert Eugene Shaw, 80, of Morrilton, died Wed., Aug. 9. He was born June 5, 1915, in Talco, Texas, a son of Horace Shaw and Myrtle German Shaw. Mr. Shaw was an oil field worker and was a member of the Pleasant Springs Baptist Church in Birdtown. Survivors include his wife, Lucille Bartlett Tiner Shaw; one stepson, Gary Tiner of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; one daughter, Anita Shaw Carson of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services were 10 a.m. Fri. at the Harris Chapel by the Rev. O.L. Kinsey. Burial was at Kilgore Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home at Morrilton. Pallbearers were James Henderson, Gene Allen Haight, Gerald Callaway, Terry Carson, Timmy Carson, Billy Harold Bartlett and W.O. Martin. ALFRED SPONER /with picture ************* Alfred A. Sponer, 86, of the St. Vincent Community died Thurs., Aug. 10. He was born Mar. 27, 1909, in the St. Vincent Community, a son of Frank Sponer and Clementine Wieson Sponer. Mr Sponer was retired from Crompton Arkansas Mills and a member of the St. Mary’s catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and St. Joseph’s Society. He was the widower of Theresia A. Sponer. Survivors include five daughters, Christine Rhea and Emerita Sponer, both of the St. Vincent Community, Martha Fougerousse of Morrilton, Anne Andrews of Center Ridge, and Mary Taylor of Plumerville; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Rosary was 7 p.m. Fri. at the Harris Chapel Funeral mass was Sat. 10 a.m. at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church by the Rev. Arthur Chiasson. Burial was at St. Mary’s Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. Pallbearers were Mr. Sponer’s grandsons, Frankie Rhea, Leo Rhea Jr., Joe Fougeroussse, Paul Fougerousse, Rick Fougerousse, Mark Fougerousse, Larry Joe Mallett, Lynn Mallett, Jamie Mallett, and Tony Andrews. EARNEST WILLIAMS **************** Earnest Williams, 76, of Springfield died Wed., Aug. 9. Born Dec. 6, 1918, at Springfield, a son of Dovie McVay and Earnest Williams Sr., he was a WW II veteran and a member of Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church. Survivors include six daughters, Althalene Hill of Springfield, Lorene Walls of Morrilton, Hazel Dean Flood, Georgia Faye Parker and Allene Walls, all of Flint, Mich., and Alice Mae Blackburn of Fayetteville; four sons, Sonny Boy Williams and Michael Wayne Williams, both of Conway, Steven Welton Williams of Flint and Earnest Charles Williams of Springfield; 41 grandchildrenn; and 56 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were 2:30 p.m. Sun. at Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church with the Rev. Matthew Smith officiating. Burial was at Greater Mount Olive Cemetery by Acklin Funeral Home of Morrilton. Pallbearers were LeVelt Hill Sr., Scipio Hoyle, Tyree Brewer, William Cowan, Lee Roy Fowler, and L. B. Warren.
