She died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008 in her home. She was 70. A longtime employee of BRAD in Pocahontas, she is survived by her husband of 51 years, Mack HACKWORTH, Pocahontas; her mother Lena JACKSON of Corning; one sister, Judy HARDIN of Corning. Also surviving are her children, Lynn COOK of Tifton, GA, Mark (Cathy) HACKWORTH, Pocahontas and Melba (Melvin) CARTER, Little Rock; grandchildren Grant and Andrew WILLIAMSON, Evan WAGGONER, Sean REED, Brandon HACKWORTH, Katherine Anne CARTER, Rebekah, Rachel and Hannah WILLIAMSON; and one great-grandson Cole WILLIAMSON. Services were conducted Friday, Oct. 3 in the McNABB Funeral Home Chapel with Gary BARKER and Dewayne SMITH officiating. Burial in Randolph Memorial Gardens Cemetery. CHARLES GRIGGS Charles J. GRIGGS, Waterford, MI, was born in Cardwell, MO June 12, 1921. He died Sept. 11, 2008. He was 87. He was the owner of West End Painting Company, member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge #2887 and Pontiac Waterford Elks Lodge #810. Survivors are his children Patsy (Phillip) VIANDS, White Lake, MI, Alice "Jeanne" (Clifford) SAUSSER, Waterford, MI, Charles (Viola) GRIGGS Jr., Crossville, TN, Terry K. (Paula) GRIGGS, Waterford, MI, Kathy DONNELL, Waterford, MI; one brother Buster (Wilma) GRIGGS and one sister Sally BROWN, both of Corning; 15 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by grandsons Sean and James. Funeral services were conducted Sept. 13, 2008 in Riverside Chapel, SIMPSON-MODETZ Funeral Home in Waterford, MI with pastor Thomas HAMPTON officiating. Burial in Crecent Hills Cemetery. NOAH WADE WEBB Noah Wade WEBB, son of Randall and April WEBB, Corning, was born in Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, Thursday, Oct 2, 2008. He died the same day. Surviving are his parents; twin sister Noel WEBB; Grandparents Lendel and Gaylene WHEETLEY, Corning; aunts and uncles, Ronnie and Jessica WHEETLEY, Corning, Lendel, Jr. and Theresa WHEETLEY, Corning, Raymond WEBB II, Marble Hill, MO, Roy WEBB, Martha WEBB, O'Fallon, MO; several great aunts and uncles and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Raymond and Iva WEBB. Graveside services will be conducted Sat. at 11:00 am in Corning Cemetery with Rev. Bill HANNERS and Rev. Chris DIXON officiating. Services under the direction of ERMERT Funeral Home. SAMUEL McNEELY Samuel "Sam" James McNEELY was born March 23, 1931 in Reyno. He died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008 in Poplar Bluff Medical Center. He was 77. A veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, he was a gas truck driver for REED Oil Company. He was first married to Viola SUTTON. Later he married Margaret CARNER ROBERTS. She preceded him in death in 1993. Survivors are two daughters Lavonne BECK of Jerome, MO and Tammy McNEELY of Warsaw, MO; two sisters Mazel OVERBY, Carlyle, IL and Magdalene McNEELY of Fairdealing, MO; two brothers Charlie McNEELY of Belton and Joe McNEELY of Denver; 8 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted in FOWLER-SULLIVAN Chapel, Neelyville with Rev. Carlton JOHNSON officiating. Burial in Naylor Memorial Cemetery. MILDRED M. LUMPKINS Mildred Margaret LUMPKINS, Corning, was born in Corning Jan. 26, 1910 daughter of Dave and Mary LANGDON. She died in Piggott Community Hospital Monday, Oct. 6, 2008. She was 98. A homemaker, she was of the Pentecostal faith. She was married to John LUMPKINS who died in 1967. Survivors are one son Gerald LUMPKINS of Elizabeth; one brother Carl LANGDON of Bradenton, FL; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers Oscar and Fred LANGDON; half sister Syble RIDER; and two half brothers Edgar and Toby WHITEHEAD. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008 in the chapel of ERMERT Funeral Home with Rev. Herb ELLIS officiating. Burial in Corning Cemetery. BRENDA SMITH Brenda SMITH, Corning, was born in Paragould, June 24, 1949, daughter of Virgil and Almeta LINDLEY. She died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008 in NEA Baptist Hospital, Jonesboro. She was 59. A teacher and fast food worker, she was of the Pentecostal faith. July 5, 1974 she married Donald Ray SMITH and he survives. Other survivors are her father, Virgil LINDLEY of Corning and one sister Sue HALTER of Goleta, CA. She was preceded in death by her mother Almeta LINDLEY. Funeral services will be Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008 at 10:00 am in the chapel of ERMERT Funeral Home with Rev. Chris DIXON and Rev. Darrell JOSLIN officiating.
