Sloan, 61, died at Hope Hospital Last Sunday Morning Harold B. Sloan, aged 61, for 31 years a drug store proprietor here, but who has been connected with the Ward Drug Store in Hope for the past year, died in a Hope Hospital at 10:15 a.m. Sunday. He was a member of pioneer families of southwest Arkansas, son of the late Thomas A. and Joanna Williams Sloan, born October 04, 1887, in Texarkana. Both his Father and Grandfather were Sheriffs in Clark County. He was educated in the public schools here and at Henderson College and became a partner with his brother, the late Paul Sloan, in Sloan Brother's Drug Store here in 1917. After his Brother's death, Mr. Sloan sold the business and moved to Hope in 1948. He was married September 26, 1908, to Miss Jean Kilby, in Pullman, Michigan, who survives. He is also survived by one daughter, Mrs. Claude Erwin, of Newport; one son, Paul K. Sloan of Wichita, Kansas; one sister, Mrs. Mary S. Cason of Miami, Florida, and one Brother, Williams Sloan of Morrilton. Funeral services were held in Murry's Funeral Chapel in Arkadelphia at 2:30 p.m. Monday, by Rev. John B. Hefley, and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Harold Black Sloan was a cousin to my Dad, Marvin Andrew Sloan.
