Bonnette, 77, of Snyder were held Saturday, July 5, at 10 a.m. at Montrose Baptist Church with the Revs. Dan Bonnette and Alan Jackson officiating. Burial was at Union Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett. Mr. Bonnette died Tuesday, July 1, at Chicot Memorial Hospital in Lake Village. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a farmer and member of Montrose Baptist Church and the VFW. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Bonnette; three sons, James Bonnette of Benton, Roger Bonnette of Leland, Miss. and Phillip Bonnette of Lake Village; three daughters, Peggy Mathes of Panama City, Fla., Carolyn Fioranelli of Greenville, Miss. and Theresa Barnett of Crossett; two sisters Vera Jackson of Crossett and Lera Lea Lynn of Montrose; 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Bonnette. Grandsons served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Tommy Elmore, Earl Burns and Wash White. ALVIN HAGOOD JR. *************** Funeral services for Alvin L. "Buddy" Hagood Jr., 44, of Katy, Texas were held Wednesday, July 9, at 10 a.m. at Martinville Baptist Church with the Rev. Travis Roberts officiating. Burial was at Eden Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg. Mr. Hagood died Saturday, July 5, at the Hospice Unit of the Texas Medical Center in Houston. A native of Fort Benning, Ga., he had been a resident of Katy for the past 18 years and was a former resident of Hamburg. He was a member of the Holy Covenant United Methodist Church, member of Rosenberg Chamber of Commerce, FFPS soccer coach and a member of the Winborn Elementary School PTO. Survivors include his wife, Melody BakerHagood; and one daughter, Kimberly Paige Hagood of Katy. Pallbearers were Freddie, Bobby and Jimmy Martin, Gene Bates, Bo Savage, Edward Gulledge, Billy Fincher and Henry Boone. B.J. Jackson officiating. Burial was at Westview Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg. Mr. Reed died Wednesday, July 3, at Ashley Memorial Hospital. A native of Fowler, La., he was a former Georgia-Pacific Particle Board employee and a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Raye Evelyn Williams of Los Angeles; four brothers, Herman L. Reed of Monroe, La., and Nathaniel "Beby" Reed, Sherman "Red" Reed and John Reed, all of Crossett; two sisters, Stella Hill of Monroe and Ruby Prevard of Chicago; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. Pallbearers were Roger Bryant, Ricky Sims, Thomas Lowe, Roy Langstaff, Joe Mayfield and Charles Moore. BERNICE SCOTT ************* Funeral services for Bernice LaFaye Scott, 67, of Crossett were held Tuesday, July 8, at 11 a.m. at Quinn Chapel A.M.E. Church with the Rev. A.L. Owens officiating. Burial was at Quinn Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg. Mrs. Scott died Thursday, July 3, at Ashley Memorial Hospital. A native of Ashley County, she was a lifelong resident of Crossett, a homemaker and a member of Quinn Chapel A.M.E. Church. Survivors include one daughter, Marva Sims; two sons, Michael Scott and Marvin Scott; one brother, Ernest L. Simpson; two sisters, Bernetta Woffard, all of Crossett; and Earlene Pace of Shepherd, Texas, and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Scott; a sister and two brothers. Pallbearers were Curtis Harris, Joe Moseley, Herman Newton, Robert Duke, Harvey Duke and Larry Rogers. GERONIMO TORREZ *************** A funeral mass for Geronimo Ballesa Torrez, 45, of Crossett was held Thursday, July 3, at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home with Father Vic Subb officiating. Burial is Wednesday, July 9, in the progresso Cemetery in Progresso San Luis Potosi, Mexico under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg. Mr. Torrez died Saturday, June 28. He was a native of Mexico, a resident of Crossett for the past three months and a reisdent of Hamburg for the past six years. He worked at the Ashley County Recycling Center and was a Catholic. Survivors include his wife, Juana Gutierrez Ballesa; one son, Damas Ballesa; one daughter, Lupe Ballesa; mother, Marie Torrez, all of Progresso; and one uncle, Luis Ballesa of Bernice, La. FLORIDA WILLIAMS **************** Funeral services for Florida Mae Williams, 74, of Crossett were held Monday, July 7, at 11 a.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. B.J. Jackson officiating. Burial was at Ebenezer Cemetery in Strong under the direction of Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg. Mrs. Williams died Wednesday, July 2, at Columbia North Monroe Hospital in Monroe, La. A native of Strong, she had been a resident of Crossett for 50 years and was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. She was a member of the Womens' Missionary Society. Survivors include one daughter, Vernell Martin of Crossett; one brother, Roy Payne of Crossett; 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Williams; and a sister, Darnell Wilson. Grandsons and nephews served as pallbearers.
